Job Summary

Responsible for the planning, directing, supervising, and monitoring of production planning, shop scheduling, master scheduling, and controlling operations to achieve production goals and conform with delivery date commitments.Will participate in planning and establishing overall production objectives with consideration given to existing workload, orders, stock and parts requirements, shipping dates, sales forecasts, total quantity management concepts, etc.Oversees the procurement of materials, components, supplies and services essential to the operation of the Company, including raw materials, manufactured items, fabrications and labor from machine shops using supply chain and logistics tools.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential)

  1. Organizes, formulates, and prepares master schedule to conform with deliver dates, manufacturing capacities, available manpower, etc.*
  2. Directs, coordinates, and expedites detailed scheduling, machine loading, production order and routing, material requisition preparation, and the systematic release of orders to the manufacturing department.*
  3. Maintains surveillance over orders in process to keep informed of manufacturing status and, when necessary, initiates required steps to maintain conformity with schedules.*
  4. Coordinates schedules with other departments relative to lead times required for the procurement of tools and material, subcontracting, methods, time standards development, etc. to avoid costly delays, missed delivery dates, customer dissatisfaction and complaints.*
  5. Supervises and expedites rush orders, material shortages, etc.; reviews schedules to eliminate delays caused by machine malfunction took breakage, engineering changes, revised shipment dates, cancellations, etc.*
  6. Coordinates with Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales, and Quality Assurance on schedules, production methods, materials, and designs to resolve day-to-day production problems.*
  7. Plans, organizes, implements, and monitors production control systems and procedures in conjunction with staff services to include data processing facilities.Maintains departmental operational procedures manual.*
  8. Assists and oversees the development, planning, and formulation of purchasing policies, long- and short-range objectives, and operating goals.
  9. Oversees and directs all purchasing activities of materials, components, supplies, and services including manufactured items, fabrication and labor from machine shops.*
  10. Ensures purchased goods are of required quality and quantity, at the most economic cost and time delivery.*
  11. Coordinates with other departments on items needing procurement
  12. When appropriate, conducts or directs negotiations with vendors on purchases and rejections, disposition and adjustments of purchased materials not meeting specifications.*
  13. Oversees the approval or rejection of pricing, terms, delivery dates, and travel routes if not in line with policies or established procedures.*
  14. Analyzes MRP reports to determine requirements and control inventory levels.*
  15. Maintains conformity with work rules and regulations and administers disciplinary measures when appropriate.*
  16. Through contacts with professional organizations, associations, educational institutions, etc., keeps abreast of new developments and innovations pertaining to areas of responsibility.
  17. Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Purchasing experience preferred

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering preferred.
