Job Description

POSITION: Green Infrastructure Construction Manager


Greenprint Partners is seeking a Green Infrastructure Construction Manager based in Chicago, IL to join the Greenprint team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead procurement and manage the construction of our green infrastructure projects throughout the country. The position reports to the Vice-President of Engineering, Jim Sparber. The ideal candidate will have experience managing construction contractors, and working with municipal clients to successfully complete civil site development projects.

General responsibilities:

The Construction Manager will perform the following work or coordinate with other Greenprint staff to perform the following functions:

Project Planning and Coordination

  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand project goals, specifications, and requirements.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to evaluate feasibility and identify potential challenges.
  • Develop construction schedules and budgets for green infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate with engineers, landscape designers, and contractors to ensure project requirements are met.


Construction Management

  • Prepare project final approval documentation.
  • Issue Notice of Award and coordinate execution of construction contracts.
  • Work with design engineers to process contractor submittals.
  • Conduct pre construction meetings with Landowner, municipal authorities and construction contractors.
  • Work with contractors, Landowners and engineers to ensure construction meets industry standards and project expectations.
  • Prepare Advertisements for Bid, respond to bidder questions and issue addendum if appropriate, receive and evaluate contractor bids.
  • Review contractor pay requests and make recommendations for payment.
  • Conduct final walkthrough and develop punch lists.
  • Monitor construction project progress and work with contractors to make necessary adjustments to meet timelines and budgetary constraints.


Communication and Collaboration

  • Communicate regularly with project stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and regulatory agencies, to provide project updates and address any concerns.
  • Coordinate with other departments within the organization to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Foster strong working relationships with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Communicate with and manage engineering and/or construction management subcontractors retained to assist Greenprint with project oversight.


While your project work will evolve over time as you grow professionally and as Greenprint grows as a company, during the first year you can expect to lead projects such as:

  • Construction of multiple green infrastructure projects in Milwaukee, WI as part of our Fresh Coast Green Communities program.
  • Construction of multiple green schoolyards at private schools in the City of San Francisco constructed under their Green Infrastructure Grant Program.
  • Construction of green infrastructure projects at a school, public park, and in the public right of way under the St. Louis Metropolitan Sewerage District’s Project Clear rainscaping grant program.


Working Conditions

The Construction Manager will primarily work from Greenprint’s Chicago office. Our Chicago office staff currently works two days a week from the office and three days a week from home, though the office is open and available for staff to use five days/week. The position requires occasional travel to different project sites and attendance at meetings with stakeholders. The work environment may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and construction hazards. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and required.


Desired Experience and Characteristics

  • Familiarity with sustainable practices and principles in stormwater management.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and environmental permits.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager, preferably in green infrastructure or stormwater management projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and specifications.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary for this position will be based on qualifications and ranges from $95,000 - $110,000 with potential for additional compensation through bonuses and profit sharing.
