STORYCORPS STUDIOS INTERN
THE INTERNSHIP
StoryCorps Studios applies the award-winning methodologies of StoryCorps to tell brand stories through the voices of real people. Leading brands hire StoryCorps Studios to create content that resonates — from Fortune 100 companies to philanthropic and educational institutions. Studios is a highly collaborative, innovation-focused department that engages with approximately 25 organizations per year, and we regularly produce audio stories, visual stories, and animations for partners to share on their channels and beyond. Recent partners include the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum, Innocence Project, Delta Air Lines, and more.
As the Marketing and Account Management Intern, you will support the StoryCorps Studios team in carrying out customized Recording & Production partnerships with a diverse and growing portfolio of up to 30 clients per year. Working closely with our team of Account Managers, you’ll play a critical role supporting key accounts, including: participating in client vision/strategy sessions, providing customized resources and guidance for clients to recruit and prepare their community members to record with StoryCorps, and supporting a wide array of project logistics.
You’ll also support execution of the StoryCorps Studios 2023 marketing plan to build awareness of StoryCorps Studios’ services. This internship is an excellent opportunity to build practical skills in client management, project management and marketing, at a one-of-kind creative studio housed within a mission-driven nonprofit. You’ll also gain unique insights into the world of archives, recording and production operations, and the value of authentic storytelling in today’s media and communications landscape.
All StoryCorps interns are paid $15 per hour, and are expected to work between 14 and 20 hours per week. The Fall 2023 StoryCorps Internship Session runs from September 18th - December 15th, 2023. The internship will be Remote (applicants must be located in the United States).
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Support execution of 2023 StoryCorps Studios marketing plan
- Support development and planning activities for multiple concurrent recording partnerships
- Participate in development of partner visioning and production goal setting
- Support product research and innovation efforts
- Develop customized promotion and participant recruiting materials for partners
- Assist in drafting custom Conversation Questions Lists to support partner recordings
ABOUT YOU
- You have strong attention to detail
- You are proficient using digital tools like Google Workspace apps (Drive, Docs, Slides, etc.)
- You have excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, customer service and rapport-building skills.
- You’re currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in a degree-granting program
- You see the big picture, you’re able to problem-solving and multi-task
- You are interested in oral history and/or the interview process and the compassion that is
- Possible through listening to others share their personal stories.
WHO SHOULD APPLY
The StoryCorps Internship Program is designed for current students, recent graduates, early-career or career-changing applicants who are excited to learn and contribute to the mission and goals of StoryCorps and gain valuable experience in a creative, fast-paced nonprofit organization — ideally, for school credit as part of their degree requirements but open to continuing or returning professionals in the workforce.
