Job Description

Relay Graduate School of Education (Relay) is an accredited not-for-profit institution of higher education serving thousands of educators from across the country, from pre-service teachers to system-level leaders. Our mission is to ensure that all students are taught by excellent educators, in order to build a more just world where every student has a clear path to a fulfilling life.

Relay's Talent team serves to further this mission as an integral pillar of talent management; supporting the recruitment, development and retention of high-performing, mission-aligned team members. The Manager, Talent will report directly to the Vice President, Talent Acquisition and play a key role leading full-cycle recruiting with multiple hiring managers and teams, managing talent acquisition operations, and contributing to talent initiatives and projects. Skilled at relationship building, project management, and continuous improvement, this talent acquisition expert will be a talent thought-partner for many across the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Talent Acquisition (40-70%; our recruiting season is busiest December - August)

  • Execute on Relay's national outreach and cultivation strategy in order to identify a diverse pool of qualified talent for future and current openings
  • Build strong relationships with hiring managers by providing excellent talent acquisition guidance and successfully project managing full cycle searches with the goal of closing roles within 3 - 4 months
  • Regularly collect and analyze recruitment data to independently and collaboratively make strategic decisions
  • Serve as an DEI/A advocate and knowledge hiring managers and throughout our talent work by upholding talent policies & systems, implementing improvements to our systems, and engaging in reflections for improvements
  • Participate in strategic conversations around recruitment efforts in an effort to strengthen Relay's outreach and selection processes.
  • Maintain accurate candidate data within Relay's Applicant Tracking System, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, ease of use for hiring managers, and consistent candidate communication
  • Support the internal hiring process by upholding the Internal Movement processes and policies for employees with the goal of providing a positive experience for internal candidates
  • Manage the project management of high-volume recruiting (e.g. adjunct instructor hiring) in a way that allows for roles to be hired successfully by the necessary start date with a positive hiring manager and candidate experience
  • Find ways to increase hiring process efficiency & efficacy at each hiring stage: application review, candidate tracking and communication, phone interviews, final interview scheduling
  • Lead both instructional and non-instructional recruitment searches across assigned teams ensuring hiring managers and candidates have a positive and equitable experience
  • Be intentional about building a diverse pool of candidates and a structured interview process to support a positive candidate & hiring manager experience
  • Create process documentations, best practices resources, and manager training for talent acquisition systems

Talent Acquisition Operations (20%)

  • Administer bi-weekly & monthly surveys to external candidates, internal candidates, and hiring managers in order to collect team performance data & ensure accuracy of data collection & analysis
  • Support with organization and maintenance of Talent Acquisition Folders and process documentation
  • Support (as needed) the maintenance of data in Unit4 Business World (HRIS) and Greenhouse (Applicant Tracking System) to support the Talent team's efforts to maintain employee data fidelity
  • Manage & upkeep the routine cleanup of Greenhouse to ensure efficacy and data collection is accurate
  • Maintain & iterate on Relay's talent brand as an employer of choice by being managing Relay's Linkedin account including Linkedin Recruiter Account, newsletter, and email accounts
  • Coordinate Relay's referral bonus program to ensure we are incentivizing and rewarding referrals
  • Monitor the team's use of Greenhouse features (new & old) to suggest & implement changes in our workflow to improve efficiency and data collection

Talent Management (10-40%)

  • Partner with the VP, Talent Acquisition to draft and edit process documentations and trackers for key talent management processes to be shared with the organization to ensure practices are accessible to all
  • Provide feedback on talent management processes with an eye towards Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and successful change management
  • Support with the research of talent management best practices (e.g. promotions, compensation) to collaborate with the VP, Talent Acquisition on talent management proposals and implementations
  • Perform other duties as assigned such that Relay's Talent Acquisition & Compensation team meets its promise to hiring managers, candidates, and employees to provide a best-in-class experience

QUALIFICATIONS

First and foremost, the Manager, Talent must share the Relay community's commitment to working together to improve student growth and achievement through phenomenal teacher preparation grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. This includes providing teacher preparation programs that set novice teachers up to succeed in the classroom from day one; leadership programs that train new and veteran school and district leaders to best serve their school communities; and teacher-facing professional education that provides ongoing learning to educators. Additionally, for this position we're looking for candidates that possess a combination of the following skills:

  • An interest in data analysis and research
  • At least 3 years of work experience; experience in education is helpful
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with individuals at all levels across an organization and externally
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • At least 1 year of experience in talent acquisition, leading searches independently
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • A demonstrated passion for supporting and advocating for underserved communities by closing the opportunity gap
  • Strong attention to detail as well as proven organizational and project execution skills
  • A focus on continual improvement and innovation
  • Bachelor's degree

COMPENSATION

Relay is committed to creating and maintaining a compensation and benefits system that supports our ability to recruit and retain a diverse and talented team. As we make decisions about compensation, we will be guided by the following values: clarity, consistency, and internal equity. The salary range for this role is $74,250 - $111,375. New hires will be offered a salary at the starting point of the range to allow for an equitable starting salary process and continual salary growth during an employee's time at Relay GSE.

To ensure internal pay equity:

  • All staff salaries will be capped at the salary range maximum, and
  • Relay does not currently differentiate starting salary offers based on years of experience,
  • Relay does not negotiate salary offers.
