Manager Of Supplier Operations (Remote)

Job Summary
Avantor is looking for a Manager of Supplier Operations to drive the corporate supply chain strategy and initiatives by proactively collaborating with key regional suppliers and internal functions. The incumbent will represent Avantor as the primary Supply Chain contact for all supplier interactions and initiatives collaborating with Executive, VP and Director level representatives from each supplier.
This role is accountable for supplier management of approximately 100 of the top suppliers and a portfolio of approximately $1B in annual spend in region. They will work collaboratively with other regions to drive improvement with common suppliers and are responsible for leading the Integrated Partner Planning Process for top suppliers to help improve Inventory Health, Reduce Backorders and Lead Times.
This position will be a full-time Virtual/Remote position with a travel requirement of up to 25%-30% within North America.
You will have the opportunity to leverage industry-leading supplier scorecards to measure on-going performance of each supplier. Performance improvements will help reduce Avantor’s overall costs, increase margin performance and improve customer satisfaction!
What we’re looking for:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Education: BS degree in Logistics, Business, or Operations; MBA with Supply Chain focus preferred.
• Ability to lead transformational projects that meet both strategic and tactical objectives.
• Project leadership, Proficient in MS office suite (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint).
• 10-12 years of applicable work experience.
• Strong knowledge and practical use of Forecasting and Inventory Planning tools, Operations and Logistics.
• Broad range of influencing and negotiation skills.
• Experience:
• Ability to work in a matrix environment.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• 10-12 Years of SCM/ Operations Experience.
• Results driven.

• Formal problem-solving training desirable, i.e., Six Sigma.
• APICS/CPIM certification desirable.

How you will thrive and create an impact:

• Reduce customer damage claims and associated costs by negotiating with suppliers to complete ISTA package testing and certification.
• Work with Regulatory and teams from Canada, Mexico, PR, Costa Rica to correct supplier non-compliance to customs and transportation paperwork.
• Work with leaders in procurement and accounts payable to maximize efficiencies and reduce waste in the procure-to-pay processes.
• Deliver continuous process improvements through review of Supplier Scorecards with key suppliers monthly and implement initiatives which improve supplier performance.
• Work directly with Avantor Commercial and Operational Team leaders across multiple BU’s and segments: PBI, E&MR, Furniture, Market Source, Science Education and Strategic Partners to meet customer demand and service level expectations.
• Manage supplier compliance to contractual language and negotiate with suppliers to meet Avantor’s inbound delivery requirements.
• Metrics include:
• Drive industry leading eCommerce connectivity with suppliers to reduce procurement costs and maximize customer order visibility.
• Follow up with suppliers on any I-Audit(s) and issues reported by any DC in the Americas, which requires a corrective action plan by a supplier or carrier.
• ** Quality Metrics: SCAR Response Time (Supplier Corrective Action Response), QN % (Quality Notifications), DPMO (Defects Per Million Opportunity)
• Maximize product supply for strategic customers matching supply and supplier capabilities to customer demand.
• ** Drive returns of slow move/ no move items.
• Develop strategies and process improvements to support improved supplier performance benefiting operation efficiencies for Avantor.
• Work with leadership in all departments to optimize supplier performance and compliance to Avantor requirements. Departments include Commercial Teams, Portfolio, Strategic Sourcing, Finance, Distribution, Procurement, Planning, Transportation, Customer Service and Accounts Payable.
• ** Lead time improvement initiatives
• Responsible for driving continuous improvement projects with top suppliers and lead/participate in internal improvement projects by utilizing ABS project tools and methodologies.
• Responsible for leading Supply Chain discussions with senior leaders of suppliers during QBRs (Quarterly Business Reviews)
• Apply appropriate modeling and statistical tools to resolve complex business issues. Assess network constraint issues, make recommendations to reduce or eliminate constraints to leadership team and key stakeholders.
• ** Sales Metrics: Product Enrichment, Service Levels, PO Volumes
• Work with suppliers to improve product supply and improve overall inventory performance:
• ** Reduce volume-based pricing, negotiate Buy-ins.
• ** Supply Chain Metrics: eCommerce, EDI, Web Portal, OTIF (On-time and In-Full), PO Lines w/Future Date, Lead-Times, Perfect Shipment, ASN Quality, ASN Carrier Tracking, POA Accuracy
• ** Deliver reductions in DIOH, while maintaining service level and supplier OTIF targets
• Work with Global Sourcing Teams in India and China to address issues that create inefficiencies during delivery into the Avantor Distribution Centers
• Work directly with Portfolio VPs and Directors to drive strategic portfolio projects to add suppliers and provide Supply Chain expertise to implement new suppliers’ agreements and products.
• Support Portfolio and Strategic Sourcing VP(s) and Directors on new product introductions by providing supply chain expertise and innovative solutions to source new products.
• Work with Suppliers, Portfolio, Strategic Sourcing and Master Data to correct master data issues leading to inefficiencies in the procure-to-pay processes.
• Lead Integrated Partner Planning Process with top Suppliers.
• ** Reduce and/or eliminate minimum order quantities.
