Posting Summary


Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Manager for the Workplace Justice Lab@RU of the School of Management and Labor Relations.


Among the key duties of the position are the following:


  • Works with the Faculty Director to lead strategic development, growth, and planning for the center, oversee the setting and implementation of goals and provide daily leadership, direction, and coordination for the center.
  • Coordinates strategic communication, fundraising, training and staff team building and management with key staff.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.


The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience


  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in economics, public policy, sociology, social work, labor relations, or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of labor or community organizing.
  • Requires a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in administrative or similar function.


Certifications/Licenses


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience and comfort with communications.
  • Experience in fundraising.
  • Experience in labor or community organizing.
  • Experience in project management and grant management (grant writing and reporting).


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with training and partnership development.
  • Preferred MA/S or MBA (Planning, Social Work, Public Policy, Labor Studies, Political Science, or other related discipline).
  • Experience working on labor standards and or civil rights enforcement.
  • Experience working with worker justice organization.
