The Maintenance and Reliability Process Engineer at Lakeside Book Company is responsible for supporting manufacturing facilities by delivering asset maintenance according to corporate strategy. This position will lead machinery maintenance efforts and drive the development and implementation of standardized maintenance programs and practices (i.e. PM Optimization, Condition Based Maintenance (CBM), Predictive Maintenance) to improve asset lifecycles and overall asset performance levels. The Maintenance and Reliability Process Engineer will work closely with all functions of the business to develop, design, and recommend strategies to enhance equipment/component performance.
As our Maintenance & Reliability Engineer, you will:
- Provide support for hazard evaluations and risk assessments to comply with applicable OSHA, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) requirements or methodologies.
- MRO Materials Management – Identifies and implements processes to ensure equipment/parts inventory are procured, received, verified and tracked in CMMS; identify opportunities to improve costs and efficiencies.
- Generate best practices for the maintenance departments and standardize failure analysis to determine the root cause and generate root cause reports.
- Assist in the development and the execution of the 5-year strategy for Lakeside Book Company Operations, including growth projects, sustainment projects, and major asset upgrades.
- Ensure that preventive and predictive maintenance programs meet the needs of supported plants.
- Act as SME for Planned Maintenance Outages, assisting with planning processes and execution as needed. Working with facility teams to determine and establish goals, scope, approach, schedules, and manpower requirements to accomplish overall objectives.
- Coach and leads the efforts for predictive maintenance technologies to monitor equipment health (i.e. vibration analysis, oil analysis, ultrasonics, and condition monitoring), be the SME of the equipment and promote proper use and benefits of the technology.
- Work with the Plant Maintenance & Engineering Leadership to ensure alignment with corporate vision and preventive maintenance methodology to improve equipment performance and reliability. Ensures that preventive and predictive maintenance programs meet the needs of supported plants.
- Validate the implementation of all repairs/modifications resulting from Gap assessments, plant audits, and reports.
- Work with OEM Vendors and other support providers to evaluate equipment condition, design and potential modifications for improved yields, capacity, efficiency, and asset life.
- Collect and analyzes data on equipment failures, repairs and processes, seeking opportunities to improve reliability of the assets. Organizes, focuses, and facilitates teams to work on improvement of systems in high payback areas.
- Establish and monitors critical links between equipment performance tracking and management reporting systems for key reliability and financial metrics.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience working in engineering, maintenance, or operations in a manufacturing environment (printing industry experience, desirable)
- Proven experience utilizing large sets of data/information from various sources to develop key insights/recommendations that drive business decisions.
- Strong project management skills and experience working in a leadership capacity
- Experience and understanding of CI principals including TPM and Lean Management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adjust communication style and simplify complex technical information for various audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical focus, preferred).
- Utilization and understanding of SAP, MP2, Limble or other CMMS systems as it pertains to maintenance and operations.
- Experience with root cause analysis and/or FMEA to identify manufacturing issues
