Job Description

Learning Development Specialist

We are looking for a Learning Development Specialist (LDS) to lead the design and development of client-facing self-paced and instructor-led training.


In addition to having extensive knowledge of, and capability with, instructional design and development of both self-paced content and instructor-led training, our future employee will possess strengths with critical thinking, time-management, interpersonal relationships, communication, being productive alone and in teams. As a largely remote organization, our future employee must be comfortable and productive working both in a remote team, and in in-person office environments. Graphic design abilities are a strong plus.

Key Job Functions


Learning Design

The LDS will collaborate with the Training Director and content Subject Matter Experts (both physically and remotely) to design high-quality self-paced and instructor-led training. Some key responsibilities are:

·Facilitate the instructional design process and design sessions with assistance from Training Director content SMEs as required.

o Follow existing company Instructional design process, update and enhance as required.

o Prepare all design session materials, background information, agendas, meeting logistics, in advance of instructional design sessions.

o Develop new content (in alignment with agreed design and blooms taxonomy)

o Ensure quality of all content meets design goals and parameters of the project

·Conduct quality assurance reviews of courses and other instructional materials.

·Coordinate project tasks and timeline to ensure timely execution of course production projects.

·Attend and audit the pilot delivery of a learning content.


Learning Development

The LDS will develop self-paced content and instructor-led presentations. Some key responsibilities are:

·Develop new, or modify existing, instructional materials in alignment with the agreed design. May include the following learning content:

o Self-paced learning modules, video, powerpoint presentations, graphics, animations, interactive media elements, pre and post-learning tests, exercises, interactions, reference materials, post-learning student evaluations, etc.

·Develop learning content listed above in: Articulate Storyline and Rise, PowerPoint, Adobe illustrator, Litmos (our LMS), and in others tools.

·Create, or facilitate the creation of, graphics and visual design of learning content

·Prepare learning content for printing and/or learning delivery

·Build new, or update existing, learning materials: graphics, learner’s guide, handouts, etc. (any steps after presentation have been finalized)

·Upload learning content into Litmos (our LMS)

o Create course templates

o Load learning content/products

o Ensure students are set up with correct access, permissions, and content


Misc. - General Activities

·As a key member of an agile company the LDS will have the opportunity to help out team members with tasks peripheral to the LDS core role.


Required Abilities and Experience

·3+ Years of experience with learning content design, development, and evaluation for self-paced and instructor-led training

·A strong understanding of, and ability to apply, adult learning theories and a desire to stay on top of the latest research.

·Ability to address multiple priorities, deadlines, and balance multiple needs and perspectives in a professional manner.

·Good Facilitation skills for design sessions and meetings

·Excellent communication in-person and in remote scenarios.

·Ability to work professionally and collegially in a solo and team environment.

·Strong attention to detail

·Great organizational skills (priorities, time management, documentation filing, etc.)

·Experience with developing learning content in Articulate Storyline & Rise , Adobe products such as Illustrator, XD, and Photoshop, tools in learning management systems

  • Intermediate MS office tools skills (Excel, Word, PPT, OneDrive, etc.)
  • Good graphic design skills.
