Lead Researcher, AI + Trust

As a Lead Researcher, you will work in the Research and Insights team, in partnership with our Responsible AI team, to explore the ways we create trustworthy AI experiences. You will conduct strategic and tactical research to shape Salesforce’s vision for how we help our customers transform their businesses while protecting the best interests of their consumers and society. You will learn about and advocate for users across industries and lines of business, technical users who are helping their companies transform, and consumers.

Responsibilities:
- Scope and drive research projects that inform product strategy, design, and development, in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders
- Work on fast-paced projects, requiring attention to detail and working within constrained timelines
- Create narratives to frame problems and highlight the business value of potential solutions
- Be a strategic business partner to key executives, helping shape their long-term vision
- Conduct generative and evaluative research using a mixture of large-scale research methods (surveys, unmoderated testing, behavioral data analysis, etc.) and small-scale research methods (interviews, moderated concept testing, etc.)
- Synthesize research findings into insights and recommendations for the product team, and work with stakeholders to socialize these findings
- Partner fully with product owners, designers, engineers, and other researchers to provide the best possible experience for our users and customers
Required Experience / Skills:
- B.A./B/S, M.A./M.S. or Ph.D. in a research- or business-focused discipline or in a field emphasizing human behavior (e.g., Psychology, Anthropology, HCI, Business, Research Methodology, Experimental Design, Design Research)
- Ability to plan, design, execute and communicate both strategic and tactical research engagements
- Preferred: Experience in AI, Responsible AI, Product Inclusion, and/or Ethics by Design
- Comfortable with basic statistical methods and concepts, and experience working with behavioral signals data
- Ability to structure and lead internal and external workshops or design studios and analyze the outcomes to provide insight for stakeholders
- Expert understanding of research methods (qualitative and quantitative) and best practices
- Excellent project management, communication, and presentation skills
- Experience conducting intentionally inclusive research with marginalized groups, including People with Disabilities
- Experience working in cross-functional teams (e.g. design, product management, engineering)
- Proven track record influencing product direction and strategy with actionable insights
- 5+ years of experience conducting research in user experience, product design, or technology contexts
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $156,800 to $237,200.
For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $172,500 to $258,700.
Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
