The Kitchen Services Associate is responsible for various functions in the Dining Commons, including cashier, barista, and other kitchen support, and creating a positive experience for all customers.

Highly motivated, detailed-oriented and willing to learn. Humor, compassion, professionalism and strong work ethic are all necessary components. Provides positive dining experience with fair, friendly and courteous service. Responsible for processing debit and credit card transactions through Square POS in a café environment. Make and serve beverages such as coffee, tea, and specialty beverages. Responsible for taking customer orders and payments. Clean and sanitize work areas, seating areas and equipment/tools.

Knowledge: Successful candidates will have a willingness to learn, cheerful demeanor, and embrace the food philosophy of the Director, University Food. An interest in whole foods, eating seasonally, adaptogens and herbal medicine. Process credit card transactions, take customer orders and have barista experience. (Example: “Must know how to make espresso and work a POS.)

Skills and Abilities: Ability to work independently and multitask. Ability to ring in orders into a POS, process payments. Ability to take customer orders and make coffee drinks in a fast-paced environment. Able to stand for 5-8 hours, able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds with or without appropriate.

Education: Washington State Food Handlers Permit

Dealing with: students, and employees to provide top quality food/beverage services on a daily basis. Dining commons will also be open to the public.
