Junior Designer, Marketing Design - Random House Children's Books (Open To Remote)

Employer is seeking a Junior Designer to join the Marketing Design Team. As a Jr. Designer, they will help build on previous successes in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Together, with their colleagues in the marketing, publicity, cover art, and editorial departments, they will bring to life standout campaigns for books, series, and brands, including the best-selling Richard Scarry, Grumpy Monkey, Magic Tree House, and more!

Responsibilities

• Develop creative design solutions that engage consumers and help promote front and backlist titles and proprietary brands
• Work within established guidelines and set specifications to push the brand forward across different mediums
• Assist Asst Art Director and Senior Designers as needed
• Stay current on illustration, design, and publishing trends
• Work on projects from start to finish, including digital and print advertisements, splash pages, social assets, in-store displays, and sell sheets
• Meet with stakeholders to review work progression and traffic materials for approval
• Effectively communicate with colleagues, artists, and agents
• Create, maintain, and adhere to deadline-driven schedules
• Collaborate with team members to develop visual concepts

Minimum Requirements

• Knowledge of prepress and file preparation for print design
• Familiarity with Adobe After Effects desired but not required
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator), with emphasis on InDesign
• Ability to work conceptually, under pressure, and meet deadlines
• Interest in pop culture a plus
• 1-2 years of design experience with a keen interest in design for branded properties and brand-building
• Desire to keep up to date with design trends and illustrators
• Portfolio that highlights strong understanding of typography and creation of effective layouts (illustration skills a plus)
• Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail
• Understanding of basic UI and UX principles and experience working with Adobe XD and/or other prototyping software

Salary: $53,000
