The Role

Where you fit in

At Shell USA, we invest in our people through our industry-leading development program, which sees our employees thrive and gain access to experts on a local and global level. To date, we have invested more than US$ 1 billion already in India’s energy sector alone, in socially and environmentally responsible ways. Shell is the only global major to have a fuel retail license in India Shell aims to establish a new IT hub in Bangalore, and scale it up over a five-year period.

This an exciting opportunity for someone with strong IT technical knowledge to blaze a trail as we move to a new “IT Operations of the Future” organization. The Senior Reliability Engineer will also have several opportunities to power Shell’s green engine.

What’s the role?

The IT Ops Senior Reliability Engineer is a member of the Shell IT Services & Operations Management (SOM) function who works in a natural team with mobile application developers, infrastructure operators and other IT staff on a range of agile (BizDevSecOps) activities. The BizDevSecOps approach to mobile application and software development aims for frequent, incremental changes to code versions, which means frequent deployment and testing regimens. Although Product Reliability Engineer will rarely code from scratch, they must understand the basics of software development languages and be familiar with the development tools used to create new code or update existing code. In the case of technical-debt backlog items they may be called upon to develop code.

The IT Ops Senior Reliability Engineer may be asked to develop or source application and system management tools that mitigate manual effort; implement automated management features, such as performance monitoring, diagnostics and failover and availability capabilities.
