THE POSITION:

The Industrial Engineering Manager will be responsible for both leading and mentoring junior engineers, as well as executing as an individual contributor. The Manager will lead solution design proposals, enterprise-wide continuous improvement projects, and act as subject matter expert in design, technology, and fulfillment processes across the company. Reporting to the Director of Industrial Engineering & Solution Design, the Industrial Engineering Manager will work independently and cross functionally to ensure both Barrett Distribution Centers and the customer’s needs are being met, while maintaining high quality, cost effective, and timely services.

YOUR DAY TO DAY:

  • Mentor their direct reports to guide growth across solution design, continuous improvement, and general success in the industry. Create a succession plan for the next IE Manager.
  • Use available data to display baseline metrics and establish goals and a ROI to determine viability of project
  • Work across multiple facilities and regions to execute design or process improvement projects.
  • Attracts, develops, and retains high performing, diverse talent within the business; builds future leaders through mentoring and serving as a role model
  • Develop and communicate clear goals and expectations for the team; provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • l setup, and use of appropriate material handling equipment for both standard and customer specific processes and layouts, throughout the company.
    • Work with the Sales and Pricing teams to execute hi-level solution desgins for customer RFPs, generally within a 1-2 week turnaround.
    • Lead a team of junior engineers to execute according to the Engineering Department priorities and objectives.

    • Work across multiple facilities and regions to execute design or process improvement projects.
    • Present projects, solution designs, etc. to the executive team at Barrett as well as to our external customers. This includes using internal templates to build out proposals, and presenting them in a professional manner as the subject matter expert.
    • Use of Inventory and Production Control techniques to evaluate storage and throughput strategies.
    • Analyze data to define requirements, report on KPIs, and identify areas of improvement
    • Continually focus on the quality, business process improvement, and customer optimization during training and account analysis to ensure both Barrett Distribution Centers and the customer’s needs are being met

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Master’s Degree in IE, SE, or similar strongly preferred
  • Highly Proficient with all Microsoft applications.
  • 5 years’ of Industrial in 3PL, warehousing, or related experience required
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other design software
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar required
  • 6 years’ experience with Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing skills, preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of 3PL, Supply Chain and Transportation, Synapse WMS system, and SharePoint preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English (Bilingual Spanish/English skills preferred).
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in 3PL, warehousing, or related experience required
  • Must demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work well under pressure and problem solve across a variety of business processes.
  • Ability to provide executive presentations to internal and external customers
  • Able to balance competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines. Strong emphasis on organizational skills and attention to detail.
