Job Description
Salary Range: $50.5900 - $77.7500 /hour
The Applications Integration Analyst is responsible for developing, testing and deploying interfaces and related technology aimed at modernizing, consolidating and coordinating the flow of data between independently designed applications within and across the organization. The Applications Integration Analyst will determine how new applications, legacy systems, databases and other systems, which may be currently operating on multiple platforms, are integrated in order to meet the existing and emerging requirements of the organization. The Applications Integration Analyst will collaborate with members of the PMO, Applications, and Technology teams to optimize the flow of data across a multitude of systems. The Applications Integration Analyst will be responsible for the analysis, design, development, implementation, maintenance, and operational support functions of HIE system and all HIE interfaces.

Essential Functions:

Application Integration Analyst I – Integration/HIE
  • Be able to trouble shoot and integrate with Database Management Systems
  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex interface errors and other data integration issues
  • Addresses data integration concerns for the end-users.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves interface errors and other data integration issues.
  • Work with vendor relations staff in communicating and working with information technology vendors.
  • Responsible for monitoring system interfaces and interface engine and HIE to proactively identify potential issues and assist in troubleshooting and resolving data integration issues.
  • Actively leads and takes ownership for the design, build and maintenance of system interfaces and other data integration elements.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders, end users and other members of the business, patient care and Information Technology teams to optimize data flow and access.
  • Primary ownership for the design, build and maintenance of highly complex interfaces and other data integration elements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Develop documentation for its support
  • Assures the Information Technology (IT) needs support the goals and objectives of the customer as well as the business needs of Hoag.
  • Evaluates problem tickets and service requests, customer requests for changes, data integration requests, system performance problems and optimization opportunities, and participate in the timely resolution of these activities.
  • Manages data integration concerns for the end-users.
  • Performs routine manual maintenance and data validation tasks required by HIE and integration systems.
  • Works with application teams to assist with the design and execution of integrated testing.
  • Understands the business use of clinical and non-clinical applications and works with the Application teams to help resolve data integration issues related to those systems.
  • Application Integration Analyst III - Integration/HIE
  • Independently resolves the highly complex interface errors and data integration issues
  • Participates in the design, build and maintenance of system interfaces and other data integration elements for the Information Technology department.
  • Leads large projects and functions as a data integration expert on complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Position may require participating in meetings outside of normal business hours including occasional evenings and/or weekends.
  • Responsible for testing the data integration components of systems, including any configurations, customizations, and new releases, prior to production implementation.
  • Prepares for and participates in system design, validation and/or remediation sessions.
  • Application Integration Analyst II – Integration/HIE
  • Support the Operational aspects of the HIE system (Medicity) and enterprise integration engine.
  • Make recommendations on state-of-art integration tools and methodologies.
  • Responsible for addressing a high volume of system-related activities in a timely fashion while consistently maintaining a high level of quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Participates as a team member in various projects, including those lead by the PMO.
  • Leads small to medium-sized projects
  • Position may require local travel between various Hoag locations and its affiliates.
  • Works with end-users to gather business requirements, performs analysis, code and test interfaces to ensure successful and seamless communication among the various IT systems and applications components.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Advanced understanding of the data flow among applications throughout the Hoag application architecture and works directly with the Application teams to resolve complex data integration issues.
  • Responsible for communicating system changes to the end-user and training staff.
  • Participates in the design, build and maintenance of HIE interfaces and other data integration elements of HIE.
  • Responsible for setting up project pre-implementation tasks of alerts and error handling.
  • Position may require participation in 24/7 department on-call program. On-call employees are required to carry a department issued phone or pager, respond to calls within 15 minutes, troubleshoot problem and provide services off-site as needed and be available to provide services on-site as needed within 1 ½ hours of being called or paged to respond.

Required:
Applications Integration Analyst I – Integration/HIE:
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience with Health Level 7 (HL7) interface programming.
  • Experience in an environment using interface engines and HIE.
Applications Integration Analyst II – Integration/HIE:
In addition to the above, the Applications Integration Analyst II will have:
  • Advanced knowledge of data integration tools, techniques and standards (e.g. HL7, IHE standards, Cloverleaf interface engine, etc.).
  • Minimum of three (3) years application integration experience in an acute healthcare environment.
  • Ability to assist junior staff with completion of assigned tasks.
Applications Integration Analyst III – Integration/HIE :
In addition to the above, the Applications Integration Analyst III will have:
  • Expert knowledge of data integration tools, techniques and standards (e.g. HL7, IHE standards, Cloverleaf interface engine, etc.)
  • Minimum six (6) years application integration experience in an acute healthcare environment
  • Ability to mentor junior business analysts and application integration analysts

Preferred:
Applications Integration Analyst I – Integration/HIE:
  • Experience with healthcare industry-specific interface standards and code sets (IHE, ANSI, HIPAA, SNOMED, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
  • Two (2) or more years experience working in a Health Care Data Integration or HIE department, preferably within an acute care environment
Applications Integration Analyst II – Integration/HIE:
In addition to the above, the Applications Integration Analyst II should have:
  • Familiarity with HIE concepts and IHE standards (C-CDA, XCA/XCPD…)
Applications Integration Analyst III/Lead – Integration/HIE:
In addition to the above, the Applications Integration Analyst III/Lead should have:
  • Minimum of two (2) or more years experience with IHE standards (C-CDA, XCA/XCPD…), Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), and basic knowledge and familiarity with FHIR.
Experience with basic leadership skills including the ability to coach/mentor junior staff.

Required:
Applications Integration Analyst I and II – Integration/HIE:
  • Excellent communication skills; customer focused; excellent attention to detail; able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; strong interpersonal skills; able to work in a team environment.
  • Possesses skills and knowledge of application integration life cycle components, including event triggers, workflow, data transformation, message routing, message queuing approaches, etc.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Access
Applications Integration Analyst III and Lead – Integration/HIE:
In addition to the above, the Applications Integration Analyst III and Lead should have:
  • Possesses logical structured thinking abilities and can develop sound business cases to support planning and critical decision making
Advanced presentation and facilitation skills
