Cohere Health is illuminating healthcare for patients, their doctors, and all those who are important in a patient’s healthcare experience, both in and out of the doctors office. Founded in August, 2019, we are obsessed with eliminating wasteful friction patients and doctors experience in areas that have nothing to do with health and treatment, particularly for diagnoses that require expensive procedures or medications. To that end, we build software that is expressly designed to ensure the appropriate plan of care is understood and expeditiously approved, so that patients and doctors can focus on health, rather than payment or administrative hassles.


Opportunity Overview


As the Head of IT, you will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and be responsible for owning and leading the strategic vision and oversight of our IT. You will work closely with cross-functional departments, stakeholders, and leaders to align technology initiatives with business objectives. Additionally, you will manage and oversee delivery of IT operations on a day-to-day basis for a large, remote organization. As part of this work, you will provide leadership and technical expertise to build and maintain an effective IT team.

What You Will Do


  • Review and provision accounts on new and existing applications
  • Manage software licenses and rationalization efforts
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of new technologies, platforms, and delivery approaches, and provide direction on what emerging technologies should be introduced and integrated within the organization to ensure technology capabilities appropriately support the organization’s strategies
  • Maintain Boston office IT infrastructure
  • Successfully manage the completion of major capital investment projects, with compelling business cases and find ways to improve the company's bottom line
  • Manage and mentor the IT support staff, setting the strategy and tone
  • Manage overall IT day to day operations to improve infrastructure costs, performance, and end-user satisfaction
  • Support daily operations by troubleshooting internal end-user issues through Jira Service Management helpdesk tickets, including equipment and software
  • Partner with the core operations and automation teams to meet deadlines set by leadership, resolve infrastructure issues and automate overly manual processes
  • Collaborate with teams to build out functionality on applications
  • Drive the expansion of single sign-on (SSO) and integrated platforms, particularly focusing on Okta Google Workspace
  • Take ownership of the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system, including updates, downtimes, and call flows. Maintain a relationship with the current vendor, Vonage
  • Provide IT services vision, enable innovation, and seek to leverage IT trends that can create business value consistent with the company's requirements and expectations
  • Process requests for new software procurement, acting as a liaison between the requesting teams and the procurement process
  • Own the end-to-end IT process, ensuring timely onboarding and offboarding of all new hires, including managing accounts and equipment. This includes establishing and maintaining a relationship with the third-party MSP for onboarding and providing assistance with surges in new hires. Focus specifically on onboarding ChromeOS/MacOS
  • Lead Incident Management process during incidents to ensure that there is proper tracking, reporting, and timely resolution.
  • Drive accountability and metrics ownership, while effectively communicating information to the organization
  • Analyze processes, issues and bottlenecks and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Responsible to set up infrastructure KPI dashboards to demonstrate operational reliability
  • Function as the Infrastructure solutions project leader to prioritize and manage project deadlines, navigate simultaneous projects and other cross-functional team demands, and ensure timely and effective execution and delivery
  • Develop and manage Disaster Recovery planning for improvement


Your Background & Requirements


  • Familiarity with Asset Management software including Google Enterprise and Jamf
  • Minimum of 10 years’ IT related experience with a minimum of 5 years’ progressive strategy and management experience
  • Recruiting and building high-performing teams
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • A deep understanding of On-Prem & cloud security concepts, including Firewalls, VPCs, Encryption, Authentication, and Authorization (SSO, Active Directory/LDAP, etc.)
  • Complete understanding of IVR and phone systems
  • Experience building, scaling & monitoring infrastructure for a distributed organization
  • Experience in data center operations including the implementation and support of private and hybrid public cloud computing environments
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent leadership and mentorship abilities
  • Advanced skills in Jira with 5+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • 25% travel, once monthly, required
  • Boston metro area preferred
