Finance at Brex


The Finance team leads financial planning and analysis, as well as corporate development, which includes board communications, investor relations, fundraising, and M&A. We strive to be agents of change, rather than a reporting function. We’re integrated with the business units and partner closely with them to evaluate key questions, solve problems, and drive results. Additionally, we are deeply involved in long-term planning and major strategic decisions for the company.


What You’ll Do


As a Head of FP&A, your work is used by our executives to make strategic decisions that will have immediate impact on the company. You will join a growing finance team and have access to and collaborate with senior leadership across multiple departments.


We are looking for someone who is passionate about our business and who possesses the analytical rigor and strategic thinking to help our business scale efficiently as we grow. You need to embrace challenges and be able to approach complex problems in an organized and detail-oriented manner. Reporting to the SVP of Finance & Accounting, the Head of FP&A will be a key member of the Finance team in developing and maintaining an effective financial planning, reporting, and analysis process. The Head of FP&A will be part of the Finance leadership team, maintaining corporate models and forecasts, and work directly in preparing presentations for executive staff and the board of directors. Additionally, this individual will work directly with departmental leaders to do annual planning, quarterly forecasting, and monthly close activities, as well as provide strategic financial advice.


Responsibilities


  • Mentor and guide team members to ensure their professional growth
  • Lead and scale a best-in-class, global FP&A organization that provides data-driven insights and business decision support across Brex
  • Develop financial models and analysis for new product lines
  • Develop and execute the company's financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership on strategic financial decisions
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Act as quarterback within Finance and drive cross functional alignment within Product, Revenue and Operations Finance functions


Requirements


  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with proven success partnering and collaborating across various functions
  • Familiarity working with planning tools (Pigment etc) and business intelligence systems (Looker etc)
  • BA/BS degree, preferably in Business, Finance, or Accounting. MBA is preferred
  • Highly self-motivated and stellar work ethic with strong attention to detail
  • Experience retrieving and handling large amounts of data in Excel or other database systems
  • Previous experience in a leadership role, managing and developing a team of finance professionals
  • 8 + years of relevant financial experience, having held positions of increasing scope and responsibility at a high-growth tech company
  • Skills as relationship-driven leader who will be expected to help strengthen the relationship between finance and the business


Nice to Have


  • Advanced analytical skills and significant knowledge and understanding of US GAAP
  • Experience working in a SAAS company or other recurring revenue model
