Head of Commercial (Business Development, Sales & Marketing)
Do you have a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business/Marketing or a related field required?
Do you have 12+ years’ experience as a senior/executive-level commercial leader within the Life Sciences?
Do you have a strong track record of advancement and success in growing businesses; commercial experience with cell and gene therapy projects in a CDMO setting (process development, tech transfer and clinical manufacturing projects) or other services experience selling into Pharma/Biotech/BioPharma?
Fraser Dove International is partnering exclusively with a full-service, collaborative biologics CDMO for cell and gene therapy organisation specialising in supporting all stages of process development and clinical manufacturing. Operating out of the USA they are committed to advancing the manufacturing of cell and gene therapies to make them more accessible to patients.
Our client is seeking a dynamic, decisive, and influential business leader to build and lead a best-in-class Commercial organization including expansion efforts which support future business objectives and maximize revenue and profitability.
Your objectives:
As the Head of Commercial, you will be measured against the following objectives:
1) Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Commercial will provide visionary leadership in the development and implementation of Commercial strategies which build and grow the organization’s business and maximize revenue and profitability for the Company.
2) To oversee all aspects of Commercial (Sales/Business Development & Marketing) and will build, expand, and lead a best-in-class Commercial team, including a Head of Marketing and 2 Business Development executives, to architect a growth strategy and successfully implement pragmatic and results-oriented objectives which guide the evolution and growth of the Company to achieve short and long-term business objectives.
3) Develop and maintain a deep and comprehensive knowledge of customers in the cell and gene therapy space and identify, evaluate, and pursue potential growth opportunities for the Company.
What you will do:
As the Head of Commercial, your duties and responsibilities will include:
· Strategy Development: Create a vision for the global Commercial organization and develop, present and execute a best-in-class commercial strategy aimed at achieving or exceeding both top and bottom line growth objectives.
· Oversee the creation of branding, message, and platforms for all product offerings inclusive of new business development opportunities and provide strong ongoing sales and marketing leadership to drive results and accelerate profitable revenue growth.
· Develop and maintain a deep and comprehensive knowledge of customers in the cell and gene therapy space and identify, evaluate, and pursue potential growth opportunities for the Company. Support new scientific and strategic partnerships and acquisitions aligned with XXX’s business objectives.
· Executive Leadership: Build and lead a best-in-class Commercial organization including expansion efforts which support future business objectives and maximize revenue and profitability.
· Proactively communicate vision, strategy, goals, achievement, accomplishments, and direction to the team and establish high standards of performance.
· Establish revenue and profitability targets and meet or exceed those targets within defined timeframes.
· Work cross-functionally and closely with leadership team to form strong and collaborative partnerships with peers and key stakeholders which ensure organization alignment and the achievement of business objectives (i.e. work closely with legal, internal colleagues and customers to drive deal/contract closings).
· Provide helpful feedback and coaching and encourage both personal and professional development of team.
· Provide input and support on strategic and operating issues as a member of the Company’s senior leadership team.
· Commercial Execution: Manifest an efficient and effective implementation of Commercial strategies which drive profitable revenue growth and counteract competitive actions.
· Continuously assess and, if necessary, upgrade commercial talent by coaching on critical skills and competencies necessary to provide best-in-class sales and marketing practices to customers.
· Customer Relationship Management: Champion a solid value proposition based on in-depth understanding of the competitive marketplace.
· Navigate sales process with finesse and integrity and lead effective, complex negotiations/business transactions for mutually beneficial agreements with customers.
· Ensure that all contracts are negotiated and executed according to plan and in compliance with all applicable policies and regulations.
· Conduct due diligence; communicate frequently and effectively in all business evaluations to ensure alignment of goals and consistency of direction.
· Develop, maintain, and facilitate strong customer relationships at all levels of both the customer organization and the Company which advance and enhance the Company’s position in the marketplace and presence in the industry.
What you will bring:
These are the skills and experience you will need to succeed as the Head of Commercial:
· Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business/Marketing or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
· 12+ years’ experience as a senior/executive-level commercial leader within the Life Sciences industry with strong track record of advancement and success in growing businesses; commercial experience with cell and gene therapy projects in a CDMO setting (process development, tech transfer and clinical manufacturing projects) or other services experience selling into Pharma/Biotech/BioPharma preferred. Experience in both large and small organizations preferred.
· Demonstrated track record of commercial success with a complex and highly-scientific sell where vertically integrating customers with multiple functional constituents is commonplace.
· Strong scientific aptitude/knowledge of the cell and gene therapy space and CDMO concepts required; significant personal network of connections in the cell and gene therapy ecosystem.
· Strong understanding of Intellectual Property concepts, Legal, and Regulatory environment required.
