Job Description

Overview

:

The Group Senior Vice President of Operations will be charged with managing a $650M P&L, while serving as a strategic operational leader and business partner to the physician leaders of the USAP Florida, Maryland, D. C., Tennessee & Indiana platforms. The GSVP will oversee services across the practice locations in the East Region by working with the Senior Vice Presidents of Operations and the related clinical leaders responsible for the operations of each practice in the region.

The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to the clinical and business leaders located in the East Region practices by fulfilling a role as a key constituent and senior leader within the USAP organization.

Job Highlights

:
The GSVP of Operations will have the following responsibilities:
  • Participate in organization-wide initiatives with other operational and functional leaders as assigned.
  • Create an environment that provides ongoing development and training, and rewards and recognizes outstanding performance while holding individuals accountable for achieving results.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to achieve organizational growth targets.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies and processes to support services across health system and hospital partner sites.
  • Provide coaching and support to operational leaders within the East Region with a strong focus on stabilizing and improving operations.
  • Provide leadership and management of the East Region operations consisting of a $650M P&L and operational support of 1500 clinicians.
  • Partner with data analytics team to use one site, multi-site, and system wide data to improve operational efficiencies and health outcomes.
  • Create and maintain positive relationships with senior stakeholders at local partner health systems and support the local SVPs in managing the health system relationships.
  • Work with the COO, Chief Clinical Officer and other GSVPs to identify and utilize operational best practices.
  • Support local execution of organization-wide improvement processes.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and mentorship to 3 SVPs who have day-to-day responsibilities for the practices located in the East region.
  • Drive EBITDA growth by creating site-level efficiencies, ensuring execution through a system of metrics, and fostering a culture of accountability.
  • Develop and implement strategic imperatives that are aligned with the direction of the COO and the USAP Executive Leadership Team
  • Ensure that broad strategies are translated into specific objectives, metrics and action plans with accountabilities clearly defined to drive high-quality results.
  • Build relationship and drive consensus for operational initiatives requiring support from clinical governance boards in the East Region.

Qualifications

:
The successful candidate for this position will be an experienced healthcare services executive with a demonstrated track record of growing a profitable, complex, multi-site/multi-state healthcare business in a high-growth private equity environment. The GSVP of Operations must have excellent relationship-building skills and an ability to effectively lead complex, data-driven operations alongside stakeholders such as physician partners, health systems, and payers. The successful placement will have:
  • 10+ years of experience managing a P&L and leading teams through a highly transformative phase (i.e., a period of exponential growth or a highly operational turnaround situation).
  • Experience or exposure to settings that utilize anesthesia services, such as anesthesia
  • A strong track record of leading complex multi-site healthcare delivery organizations ($200M+ P&L) alongside physician leaders; prioritizing relationship building, influence and collaboration.

  • Successful team-building skills and knowledge in fostering high performing teams.
  • Ability to simultaneously create and execute operational strategies and dive into the day-to-day operational details of the business.
  • Demonstrative data-driven skills and extensive experience putting in place appropriate KPI’s, establishing metrics, and developing meaningful analytics to enhance and drive business performance and continuous improvement.
  • Keen awareness of compliance, legal structures, regulations and policies that impact anesthesiology practices and partnerships with surgeons, health systems, payers, and facilities.
  • Proactive nature in seeking out the best talent; identifying, retaining and developing diverse talent pools critical to executing organizational strategies.
  • Experience cultivating partnerships with leaders at local and national health systems and medical facilities.

EDUCATION

A Bachelor’s degree is required; MBA or other relevant advanced degree is preferred.
