Freight Coordinator Jobs

The Freight Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing the movement of freight or cargo for a company or organization. This role involves overseeing the logistical processes, from receiving freight orders to arranging shipments and ensuring timely deliveries. The Freight Coordinator collaborates with various internal departments, suppliers, carriers, and other stakeholders to streamline operations and optimize the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Shipment Coordination: Coordinate inbound and outbound freight shipments, including planning transportation routes, scheduling carriers, and arranging freight services.
2. Carrier Selection: Identify and negotiate with carriers, freight companies, and third-party logistics providers to secure the most suitable and cost-effective transportation options for freight shipments.
3. Freight Negotiations: Negotiate shipping rates and contracts with carriers to achieve competitive pricing and reliable service.
4. Customer Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for clients or internal stakeholders, providing updates on shipment status and addressing freight-related inquiries or concerns.
5. Shipment Tracking: Monitor the progress of freight shipments and provide regular updates to clients and carriers regarding delivery status.
6. Shipping Documentation: Prepare and review shipping documents, such as bills of lading, shipping labels, and customs paperwork, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
7. Customs Compliance: Ensure adherence to international shipping regulations and customs requirements for cross-border freight shipments. Collaborate with customs brokers or authorities to facilitate smooth customs clearance.
8. Problem Solving: Address logistics issues, resolve transportation challenges, and provide effective solutions to ensure seamless freight operations.
9. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, track stock movement, and ensure adequate stock availability for timely order fulfillment.
10. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of freight shipments, contracts, and customer interactions.
11. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to transportation and logistics safety guidelines, industry standards, and company policies to ensure safe handling and transportation of freight.
