Field Service Engineer : Controls & Actuation (Remote Eligible)

Summary: The Service Engineer will be required to work independently, or in a team, carry out maintenance, repair work, troubleshooting and installation of different types of diesel engines and related equipment in the field or in a shop environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Can perform complex fault finding at the electrical and mechanical level, has the ability to read and interpret very complex electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Assisting the applications engineers in testing, updating documentation, drawings etc.
• Has the ability to install and commission standard controls, small and large systems and all types of actuations.
• Demonstrates a master level fault finding capabilities and master level understanding of systems and controls to the point of being able to deliver master level product support and instruction to customers and other employees.
• Provide supervision for other members of the MSHS team for on-site and in-house tasks.
• Can be relied upon to train field service and junior engineers in all aspects of site work.
• Has the ability to create and develop complex control system diagrams.
• Can be relied upon to provide in house support for system testing with no supervision and offer leadership, planning and organizational support for a executing task as an individual or in charge of a team.
• Can be relied upon to provide a very high level of TAG and sales support identifying the correct product to meet the needs of the customer’s process.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Demonstrates a high level of understanding to be able to fault find on programmable controls and HMI’s.
• May lead and direct the work of others.
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
• High degree of knowledge of the field concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Performs all tasks.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent and 12+ years relevant work experience or diploma and 15+ years relevant work experience in power generation, industrial automation or related industry.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Should be prepared to twist and turn the body often and must be open to working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds.
• The ability to stand for long periods and be comfortable with kneeling, stooping and working in cramped and uncomfortable positions is required.
