The American Association of Paralegal and Legal Education (AAfPE) invites applicants for the position of Executive Director.Established in 1981, AAfPE is the nation’s largest and longest continuously operating organization dedicated to promoting quality paralegal and legal studies education.AAfPE’s membership of 400 includes universities, colleges, and other institutions of higher education throughout the United States.
The Executive Director will report to the President of the AAfPE Board of Directors and is responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the organization.Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the maintenance of association documents, policies, and guidelines; preparation of the annual budget and financial statements; the collection of annual dues; the generation of new membership via promotional initiatives; maintaining the organization’s website, social media, publications, monthly newsletter, and honor society; as well as planning, coordinating, and managing all AAfPE conferences, both in person and virtual.
Education & Experience
·Experience in nonprofit management required, earned graduate degree preferred.
·Experience in educational and/or legal organizations preferred
·Strong demonstrated experience discerning and resolving organizational issues
·Demonstrated experience leveraging technology to enhance the organization’s effectiveness and reach
·Demonstrated innovation in support of the organizational goals, including knowledge of marketing and current trends
·Demonstrated experience in design and continuous implementation of the strategic planning process
Technical & Functional Skills
·Strong demonstrated ability in technology and website management
·Ability to prepare and maintain budgets and financial oversight
·Strong demonstrated ability to drive towards achieving measurable and challenging goals to support the organization’s success
·Ability to influence, build effective relationships and gain alignment with the Board of Directors, functional partners and/or external partners to accomplish the organization’s objectives
·Interpersonal qualities: strong leadership capabilities; demonstrated work-ethic and commitment to high-quality service; a personal presence that is active and inclusive; demonstrated skill to promote and enhance diversity and growth
·Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills
·Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
·Ability to work flexible hours, and occasional evenings and weekends, as needed
This is a part-time position, with flexible hours (expected average of 20-30 hours per week). Salary range $40,000.00 – $60,000.00/year commensurate with experience
