Job Description

Summary

The manager for fuel performance and design will work within the Core and Fuels Engineering team of Global Nuclear Fuel – Americas (GNF). The team is responsible for the design, analyses and testing of the fuel bundle assembly, components, packaging, and shipping containers to ensure performance, code, and regulatory compliance.

Relocation to Wilmington, NC is required but hybrid work is allowed.

The manager of fuel performance and design will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives.

  • Interface with project management and direct resources to execute to defined project work schedules and priorities.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Interface with internal customers, external customers and the regulatory agencies on technical issues.
  • Act as a leader in company / business initiatives.
  • Maintain strong interfaces with manufacturing, sourcing and the commercial team, participating in process/product qualifications and emergent customer/manufacturing issue resolutions
  • Support the development, maintenance and control of the licensing and design bases and improvement of analysis processes (including procedures)
  • Hire, coach and support the development of technical talent/depth within the team
  • Support GEH quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating and responding to Condition Reports, identifying and providing needed training and mentoring, and maintaining adequate levels of qualified personnel
  • Provide leadership, resources and training needed to assure high quality deliverables in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures and regulatory agency guidelines

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical or similar).
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a technology or engineering role

Eligibility Requirements:

Relocation to Wilmington, NC is required.

  • Experience with Fuel, Services, and NPP projects
  • Clear thinker Communicates messages clearly and concisely.
  • Previous technical leadership experience or ownership in key technical areas
  • Advanced degree in Nuclear Engineering or Science Discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Team player with strong leadership capabilities.
  • Demonstrated people management and motivation skills
  • Operating at a senior level within the organization
  • Knowledge of nuclear analysis processes and the related interfaces between the GE Energy - Nuclear businesses
  • Strong external focus; clear and demonstrated understanding of nuclear industry and/or energy industry.
  • Demonstrated high energy and the ability to energize others.
  • Working knowledge of applied statistical framework of nuclear reactor core and fuel licensing, technical specifications, safety margin basis, and related Federal Regulations.
  • Ability to achieve stretch targets.
  • Strong delivery mindset.
  • Self-start with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Knowledge of project management.
  • Honest and straightforward with a high level of personal integrity.
  • Experience in bundle and core design & licensing

The salary range for this position is 124K - 180K. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
