Description & Requirements

Role/Title

The Engineering/CI Manager will improve performance of productive equipment- preserve plant physical assets- and control maintenance labor and material costs to achieve plant performance goals. Forecast and control plant capital spend to maximize investment value. Ensure compliance with Environmental Protection Agency regulations- Good Manufacturing Practices- the Occupational Safety & Health Act- and other regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities of the Role

  • Manage capital and facility maintenance projects and resources through timely equipment installation- service and repair. Update capital project long range plan and update ProjectPronto and 4Site as needed.
  • Develop- monitor and control the annual capital budget- maintenance expenses- and utility budgets.
  • Develop ideas and projects to reduce utility and energy costs.
  • Support the efficient operation of the Plant through effective utilization of Engineering and Facility Maintenance resources.
  • Protect the environment- and the company's good name and assets from harm by meeting all applicable environmental regulations and responding immediately to potential violations.
  • Assist and oversee maintenance of the plant equipment- buildings- and other assets to protect these assets and reduce equipment related downtime.
  • Protect the company’s employees through focus on ergonomic issues and employee safety during both the planning and execution of capital projects- and enforcement of factory safety regulations such as lock out/tag out for outside contractors and company employees.
Research and develop new processing techniques to improve quality of product and production efficiencies.
  • Accountable for the QRMP (Quality Risk Management Process) system and operational standards as outlined in the plant accountability list
  • Lead and coordinate 5S initiatives plant-wide
  • Manage ProjectNow and Annual Action Plan productivity tools
  • Share and implement best practice initiatives across Supply Chain
  • Continuous Development of the productivity pipeline projects.
  • Participate in the QRMP yearly audit and assist in the development of procedures and corrective actions
  • Develop and maintain performance (KPI) visuals
  • Participate in the QRMP yearly audit and assist in the development of procedures and corrective actions
  • Work with Finance Staff on developing the yearly Macro Loss Analysis and Cost Dictionary.
  • Coordinate major initiatives across Supply Chain to insure optimum cost. This coordination will include- but not be limited to- purchasing- distribution- manufacturing- research & development- packaging and engineering.
  • Assist with the implementation of the QRMP (Quality Risk Management Process) system and operational standards as outlined in the plant accountability list in order to achieve targeted RCR
  • Develop a waste analysis for all lines
  • Assist and partner with business leaders on implementation of process improvement (Six Sigma / Lean/Heinz Global Production System (HGPS))- including leading change initiatives- planning- and facilitation.
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and tracking system (where needed)
  • Evaluate production and packaging needs for Capital Equipment.
  • Implement and train MOS & Lean / Six Sigma processes to plant location personnel.
  • Coordinate the progression of KHMS using Digital Coach tool
  • Partner with business leaders on implementation of process improvement (Six Sigma / Lean)
  • Determine equipment capabilities for new or revised factory layouts.
  • Manage and evaluate the Continuous Improvement staff including but not limited to performance management and employee development- etc.
  • Establish departmental goals that maintain focus on improving line efficiencies and product quality.
  • Participate on the Food Safety and HACCP Team.
  • Generate cost reduction opportunities and implement process improvement to reduce manufacturing costs
  • Develop and manage the department’s operating budget


Qualifications

  • 2+ years CI leading CI projects or transformation projects required
  • Must be familiar with maintenance management system operations.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with process and high speed/automation equipment- preferred
  • Mentoring & coaching skills
  • Black Belt Certification preferred; Green Belt Certification is preferred
  • Working knowledge of enterprise business principles and practices
  • SAP experience is a plus
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with full cycle capital project management from appropriation preparation to field start up- preferred
  • Presentation Skills
  • Minimum of 7 years of increasing responsibility in plant engineering and project management in manufacturing- preferred
  • Ability to communicate and deal with a range of responsibilities is critical while managing multiple tasks
  • Creativeness and desire to not to be bound by past solutions and to think outside the box in order to drive productivity throughout the organization
  • Engineering or similar degree and/or related experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of boiler and compressed air operations in order to evaluate operating efficiencies.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices- OSHA safety regulations- EPA regulations
  • Demonstrated experience overcoming the inevitable problems and obstacles that surface to meet project timelines and cost initiatives
  • Leadership skills gained through course work- seminars- and experience in supervisory positions in maintenance and/or supervising contractors on capital projects.
  • Clear understanding of engineering economics and project justification.
