Overview
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation is looking for an Associate, Diversity & Inclusion Specialist to join the Human Resources function. This individual will work closely with the firm’s Enterprise Resource Groups to manage D&I administrative processes that support event planning and budget approval processes. Position components include coordination and ERG program management, trainings and initiatives related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The Diversity & Inclusion team is led by the Head of Diversity & Inclusion for the Americas Division and is responsible for ensuring SMBC’s maintains itself as an inclusive workplace for all employees and clients.
Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Diversity & Inclusion and the Diversity & Inclusion team in establishing Americas Division initiatives, programs, and events tracking tools
- Oversee the Enterprise Resource Group (ERG) Program, consisting of eight (8) affinity groups, including managing each group’s budget, assisting in vendor selection and event planning around Heritage Months and other events throughout the year
- Streamline processes to create more efficiencies with event planning, approvals, and execution
- Lead special projects that further imbed D&I into daily activities and best practices
- Partner with other HR functions, including Talent Development, Benefits, HR Analytics and others to weave diversity into existing HR tools and processes
- Work closely with Campus Recruitment group to support and coordinate D&I and ERG programs for Summer Interns and Analysts
- Work with external diversity partners to support local and national communities; attend regional conferences and events; and build out SMBC’s D&I network
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of corporate experience
- Strong administrative and organizational skills required
- Highly collaborative with strong relationship management and interpersonal skills
- Training program and vendor management helpful
- Solutions orientated and resourceful
- Demonstrates sound judgement, social competency,
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team-player, energetic and eager to develop an expertise in D&I
- Background in project and program management
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software required
