About the Job


The Indirect Procurement Director is responsible for developing a strategic approach to the corporate procurement and material management process for the purchase of indirect goods and services. In this leadership role, the successful candidate will direct the procurement of indirect goods and services for the plant; assist Procurement team members and colleagues with procurement processes, change and update other procurement-related activities; develop and/or update procurement policies and procedures; and develop a centralized procurement program that will add value and efficiency to the organization. Your team will have tactical responsibility for the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and systems that support the company's acquisition and materials management of indirect goods and services.

Location: Lordstown, OH


Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of the market, in addition to current prices and fair rates for goods.
  • Accountability to drive category supplier strategy development and to implement operating plans and budgets.
  • Serve as the primary contact for procurement-related questions, training, policy and procedure interpretation, and alignment by all departments.
  • Develop and Manage procurement policies, procedures, and programs with a focus on their ability to enhance organizational value and efficiency.
  • Oversee and lead the management of the indirect purchasing teams.
  • Meet regularly with respective departments regarding procurement for their understanding and/or recommendations to enhance policies and procedures.
  • Develop and communicate a procurement business plan; establish, communicate, and implement long-term goals for the department to promote effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Responsible and Accountable for supplier key performance indicators.


Education and Experience

  • Engineering or a similar degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • CSCP, CPM or CPP certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).
  • 10-15 years of related experience, with at least 3 years of supervisory experience

  • Prior background in automotive industries; Experience working with Automotive Suppliers.
  • Outstanding team building and leadership skills.
  • Results-oriented, a metrics-driven leader with expertise in purchasing, supplier collaboration, development, and compliance.
  • Must have a progressive procurement career with a broad technical background.
  • Proven experience working with suppliers, including new launches, and improving underperforming suppliers through supplier improvement programs.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to keep team and actions on track to completion.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to establish and maintain professional, effective working relationships within and outside the company.
  • Demonstrated hands-on approach, analytical abilities, and attention to detail.
