Purchasing Director Jobs

Ostro Steel Structures is a leading designer, manufacturer and installer of pre-engineered metal buildings in the southeastern US and beyond. For immediate start, we’re looking for a new Purchasing Director responsible for ensuring smooth flow of steel and other raw goods at negotiated pricing. This position has two direct report and 2-3 shared reports (shared with our warehousing supervisor).

Your New Role:

• Work with our Purchasing Clerk to complete monthly inventory reports for our finance and accounting team
• Program certain factory machinery
• Expand vendor list to ensure competitive market pricing on key inputs
• Collaborate with quality manager to maintain repository of all steel mill certificates and documentation
• Other duties as needed
• Oversee our Purchasing Manager to prepare requirements reports for all raw goods and bought-out components
• Set up and maintain relationships with vendors, including negotiation of purchase orders for raw goods and factory consumables
• Collaborate with plant manager to ensure on-time delivery of raw goods based on our production schedule

Your Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but prior experience is more important to us
• Excellent communication skills an absolute must, as this role will interface directly with our suppliers. If you’re not comfortable picking up the phone and calling a supplier to negotiate pricing and lead times, this is not the job for you.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in purchasing/procurement role, with steel industry, construction or manufacturing experience strongly preferred
• Must have ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks, work efficiently with minimal supervision and be detail oriented
• Proficient in Excel and Word with excellent computer skills

This role will be based in Louisville, GA initially, with potential to work out of our Augusta, GA office part-time starting late-2023.
