Job Description

Instructs and trains all employees including Bus/Van Drivers and Diesel Technicians. The Director of Training is responsible for developing new training and ongoing training and must demonstrate and teach safety driving skills by performing the following duties.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain roster for all employee training, roster should be turned in to the Safety Director on a weekly basis.
  • Assist in identifying and correcting equipment issues found during pre, post, or other routine inspections.
  • Comply with FMCSA passenger transportation regulations as well as any other local, state or federal laws.
  • Train drivers on how to properly perform a Pre/Post trip on unit, defensive driving, dashboard, etc.
  • Ensure coaching is completed by supervisors for identified events in the Driver Camera system.
  • Responsible to train drivers on small over the road repairs such as changing belts, replacing wipers, re-gen, etc.
  • Training should be performed on first day of hired and retrain every 6 months or when needed.
  • Test hearing and vision of individuals.
  • Demonstrates and explains handling of company vehicles in emergencies, driving techniques, and mechanical operation of motor coach and loading/unloading passengers. Drivers should be trained in different coach units.
  • FMCSA regulation training as well as other class room training such as ADA, Hazmat, Lifting, etc.
  • New Entry Level training
  • Responsible of keeping all training material current and implementing or proposing new training material.
  • Provides reports and actions to business leadersAssist with road test on buses with issues. Other duties as assigned by Manager
  • Evaluation of all CMV and Non-CMV drivers for compliance
  • Observes individual's driving habits and reactions under various driving conditions to ensure conformance with vehicle operations standards and state vehicle code.
  • Train and prepare drivers for the TX DMV tests including road test.
  • Safely operates all tools and equipment required to perform the assigned duties.
  • Supervises driver's performance of routine driving and safety performance. Will be required to travel when needed.
  • Transporting of buses to or from external shops/vendors when needed.


Qualifications

  • Valid Medical Card
  • Knowledge of FMCSA regulations
  • 5 years experience
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish)
  • Experience with DOT
  • ValidCDL with Passenger Endorsement
