Job Description
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • The production processes include the procurement of materials specified by the Engineering department, the development of manufacturing and test equipment used in the production processes, the determination and planning of associated capacity/load, and all documentation for hardware, software, and calibration of this equipment, raw and finished goods handling, inventory control, and production.
  • This position is also responsible for international customer service as well as the planning of the manufacturing sequence, labor studies, and collection of data associated with yield, and equipment utilization/productivity.

  • Leads Operations function in the development, support and training of production processes and the production and shipment of products.
  • Responsible for evaluating the tasks, conditions, training, and relevant safety risks of their direct reports.

  • This position shall also direct the priorities of incoming materials and outgoing shipments in such a way as to maximize customer satisfaction. Manages four or more subordinate supervisors who supervise several employees in procurement, process engineering, test engineering and production assembly. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Operations Department. May directly supervise non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Varies writing style to meet needs; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
  • Managing People - Includes staff planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement; Takes responsibility for subordinates' activities; Makes self available to staff; Provides regular performance feedback; Develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth; Solicits and applies customer feedback (internal and external); Fosters quality focus in others; Improves processes, products and services; Continually works to improve supervisory skills.
  • The planning and directing of the GF Signet Operations organization shall be done in collaboration and cooperation with others in GFPS. In performing these duties the Operations Director will contribute to the creation of systematic methods that will align our group values of: Caring, Learning & Performing

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Excellent Mathematical skills with Working knowledge of mathematical methods required for electrical and mechanical engineering projects.
  • Excellent reasoning ability. Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Excellent computer skills. Able to perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Responsibilities and Competences follow the Operations Management Functional description; in addition, competences shall be in accordance with GFPS Delegation of Authorities.

Education And Experience
  • Bachelors of Science degree in an engineering or technical field, such as mechanical, electrical, process control, etc.; Ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s Degree in engineering, business or management of technical professionals.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
  • Work a minimum of 40 hours weekly with overtime as needed to facilitate accomplishment of project goals and deadlines.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is required to travel occasionally.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vison, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk
