Job Description

A leading manufacturing company specializing in aerospace components is seeking an accomplished and experienced professional to join their team as the Director of Manufacturing. With a strong commitment to excellence, advanced technology, and continuous improvement, this organization has established itself as a trusted partner to prominent aerospace companies, delivering high-quality, reliable, and innovative solutions.

In this role, as the Director of Manufacturing, you will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing operations of aerospace components. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in aerospace engineering, with a strong focus on circuit design, as they will work closely with the R&D team. Your primary objectives will be to ensure production efficiency, meet gross margin targets, eliminate/prevent past dues, and optimize the turnaround of returned goods. Additionally, you will develop and execute plans to reduce non-value-added operations, driving continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement Lean and continuous improvement techniques, such as value stream mapping, 6S, Kaizen, Visual Controls, Pull/Kanban systems, standardized work, and line balancing.
  • Provide effective leadership and mentorship to the manufacturing operations and engineering teams.
  • Apply Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA) and Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA) to manufacturing processes and designs.
  • Guide the implementation of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and manage manufacturing budgets, focusing on cost control and optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant aerospace industry regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve operational issues and drive overall efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with the R&D team, leveraging your engineering expertise to contribute valuable insights.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for manufacturing operations, ensuring adherence to efficiency guidelines and maintaining high-quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 10% of the time.
  • Familiarity with value stream mapping, 6S, Kaizen, Visual Controls, Pull/Kanban systems, standardized work, and line balancing.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in leadership positions within manufacturing operations and engineering, preferably in the aerospace and defense industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong background in aerospace engineering, with expertise in design and manufacturing engineering.
  • Knowledge of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and its application to manufacturing processes and designs.
  • Proficiency in implementing Lean and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Experience with Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA) and Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Circuit design experience is highly advantageous for this role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineering) or a related field.

If you are a driven professional with a passion for manufacturing excellence and thrive in dynamic and challenging environments, we invite you to apply. To be considered for this opportunity, please submit your resume, cover letter, and salary expectations. Qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview.

The estimated salary range for this position is $135K - $170K.
