Legal Operations Director
Full-time, Remote
Compensation: $135 to $175K base cash compensation range (depending on experience and qualifications), plus 15% bonus and full benefits package including (but not limited to) medical, dental, and 401k with matching.
Job Summary:
Sky Zone is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Operations Director to join our growing legal team. The Legal Operations Director will be a valued strategic partner to the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, responsible for the operational and financial management of the legal function at Sky Zone. The Legal Operations Director will closely manage outside counsel (for both transactional and regulatory support, as well as the company’s litigation portfolio) and legal vendor spend, select and implement strategic legal technology, design and implement optimal legal processes, take a lead role in IPO/sale readiness and organization, and establish departmental KPI’s and benchmarks. Sky Zone seeks a highly analytical thought leader that is also willing to be hands-on in implementing change and process improvements.
The candidate would report to the Deputy General Counsel of Sky Zone, and work closely with the General Counsel and other senior executives, occasionally assisting on strategic, cross functional initiatives outside of the Legal Department. While small (6-7 individuals), the Sky Zone legal department is truly a team, with daily interaction amongst executive management, its business clients and one another.
Job Responsibilities:
· Financial Management.
- Identify drivers of legal expenses as well as trends and provide recommendations regarding productivity and process improvement to Leadership team
- Manage external vendor and outside counsel spend
- Responsible for Legal Department budgets, accruals and reserves and developing methodology for annual and quarterly forecasting.
- Direct P&L responsibility for all Legal Department business and operating expenses
- Provide creative thinking to help identify and develop cutting-edge strategies for increasing value and reducing outside legal spend while maintaining excellent standard of legal support for the business

- Create metrics and monitor progress to measure success against strategic plans, including tracking of high priority matters
- Effectively organize and manage relevant organizational documents, contracts, policies and other agreements to best prepare company for an IPO or sale
- Establish and implement reporting processes
- Perform special projects and responsibilities assigned by the General Counsel and/or Deputy General Counsel, including strategic cross-functional initiatives
- Assist with Litigation Management (primarily oversight of outside counsel) as needed
- Select and implement legal technology to further the goals of the Legal Department, including contract lifecycle management solution and privacy management solution
- Assist senior corporate paralegal on corporate governance and entity management matters

- Assist with developing, refining and promoting the Legal Department’s mission and executing on short and long term operations plan
- Provides metric data analytics as a means to identify productivity and assess impact & progress on key initiatives, cultural imperatives, and process improvement
- Identify training opportunities, facilitate education on best practices, and create department-specific guidelines and policies
Background & Requirements
- Three (3) plus years working in house in a law department or at a law firm in a legal operations capacity; experience at a franchisor is a plus
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or JD a plus
- Team player with a sense of humor and customer service mentality
- Strong interpersonal skills and work ethic
- Strong analytical and project management skills, with superior attention to detail
