Overview


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform all essential functions of the Director of Business Development successfully, an individual must be able t o demonstrate success in solutions sales with established relationships in the retail and CPG sectors, and have strong business acumen in strategic retail solutions selling. The other requirements & duties listed below are representative of the minimum essential knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job.


Key Responsibilities


  • Strong track record of consistently meeting and exceeding large yearly quotas in a competitive market.
  • Proven ability to leverage market experiences and expertise to forge relationships with target customers.
  • Through a consultative approach, the Director of Business Development must have an understanding of how to convey the value of SPAR Group's integrated solutions to supporting business goals and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement national account strategies to increase sales and profits through national customer acquisition and build long-lasting client relationships across retailers, manufacturers and national CPG clients.
  • Building and managing a portfolio of clients, which could vary from developing new relationships via the phone or traveling to meet with key clients to ensure they're set up for success. Identify customers through networking, prospecting, cold calling, conferences, trade shows, or online marketing and social media.
  • Seek out new business and generate growth within the United States team, specifically new customers in all SPAR business divisions. This position will require an entrepreneurial spirit to identify new potential customers that fit the company profile and engage decision-makers to close business.
  • Organizing and planning activities and strategies that will result in achieving quarterly/annual revenue and sales goals.
  • Develop go-to-market target lists, develop sales strategies, present solutions, forecast sales and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Experience successfully selling complex products or services with long sales cycles.
  • Cross functional communication, collaboration and transparency will be key success drivers in this role as the Director of Business Development will interface with various departments facilitating communication with crucial support areas required to deliver the proposed scope of work.
  • Successful experience working with decision-makers at the highest levels within organizations.


Additional Duties, Responsibilities, And Experience


  • Have a proven track record of sales growth; a vision for developing strategies to drive significant growth working with large clients/accounts.
  • Exhibit a strong track record driving individual and team revenue goals with proven ability to sell strategically to senior level executives within client organizations.
  • Experience in the distribution warehouse resource space and in home/in store product assembly would be a bonus.
  • 100% remote work and travel as needed.
  • Experience working with Distribution Centers, Assembly (in store and in home), Merchandising and Retail Solutions industry a plus.
  • Must be self-motivated, committed and a team player.
  • Will thrive off challenges and excel at completing complex problems.
  • Professional negotiation skills regarding proposals/RFPs, pricing, pitching to individuals and teams.
  • Strong follow-up and follow-through.
  • Need to be results-driven, with an outgoing personality and professional demeanor.
  • Working knowledge of CRM and sales & pipeline management.
  • Be a lifelong learner; remains current with the state of the retail industry.
  • Comfortable working in a performance-based environment; possess an established rolodex of large, blue-chip Fortune 500 caliber companies.
  • Must have a tenacious spirit and focus their efforts on new client acquisition.
  • Experience and comfort driving client inquiries to potential business solutions. Website inquiry follow up and lead generated follow up will be a primary area of responsibility.


EDUCATION: This position requires minimum education of a Bachelors Degree*

EXPERIENCE: This position requires minimum 5-7 years’ experience within Sales & Business Development


COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of computers, including Internet, e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet and presentation (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint) abilities.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does may or may not have supervisory responsibilities. Those who manage others are expected to have the ability to lead one or a team of individuals to achieve department goals.
