Job Description

Summary of Job

The Director of Business Development will be a skilled and experienced sales leader, passionate about driving profitable growth and positive customer relationships and outcomes. Our EFS Sales team is focused on co-manufacturing sales by working with branded CPG firms across North America and is responsible for profitable growth within this segment. The EFS sales team also focuses on building partnerships and pursuing deals with other large-scale industrial operators.

We are looking for someone with deep experience leading customers through large, sophisticated deal cycles. You will play a multifaceted role leading business development and sales efforts with cross functional partners, developing effective sales strategies, and managing complex partnerships and deals at Element Food Solutions.

The role will also require an executive who understands the constantly evolving co-manufacturing ecosystem and can collaborate with the rest of our management team to contribute to Element Food Solutions overall growth strategy.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the P&L for each assigned customer.
  • Use data and technology tools to accurately manage and forecast your pipeline quarter to quarter.
  • Close new business and grow existing accounts to achieve and exceed quarterly targets and quotas.
  • Recommends product lines by identifying new product opportunities, and/or product, packaging, and service changes, surveying consumer needs and trends within the market and by tracking competitors.
  • Build relationships with senior leadership and key partners and decision makers within your customer base.
  • Meets division sales financial objectives by accurately forecasting customer demand requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. Makes sure that the Element Food Solutions division achieves profitability.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, attending industry conferences and tradeshows, reading professional publications, and maintaining personal networks.
  • Structure, negotiate and drive complex deals that require creative thinking, skillful negotiation, and the ability to influence levers owned by various cross-functional teams including price, marketing, R&D, manufacturing and more.
  • Establishes sales objectives by creating a sales plan in support of division objectives.
  • Contribute the broader strategic efforts of Element Food Solutions as a member of our sales team.
  • Use your strategic sales experience to see around corners, developing and executing detailed strategic plans with creative thinking and keen business sense.
  • Accomplishes sales and organization mission by completing related results as needed.


Education and Qualifications

  • College Degree Required – Master’s Degree Preferred
  • Passion for our products, our company, our customers, and our people
  • The ability to be a structured and organized problem solver who can drive projects to completion with minimal direction; attention to detail and ability to deep-dive when necessary.
  • Food industry experience is required, preferably in the dry blending, supplements, and nutritional segments.
  • 8+ years of co-manufacturing sales experience
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Excellent at customer service
  • An interest in traveling up to 50% of the time with some nights and weekends required for customer meetings, shows and conventions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • High energy and stamina
  • Best-in-class oral and written communication skills: negotiation, deal creation and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills demonstrated by previous experience utilizing systems for tracking sales, determining return on investment, and developing data-driven strategies.

Physical Requirements

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
