Position Title: Director of Antibody Discovery

Position Summary:

In this role you will be responsible for building the in-house capabilities around the design, execution, and reporting of non-clinical in vitro studies to discover, characterize, and nominate our best-in-class antibodies for the prophylaxis and treatment of viral infections. This position will work collaboratively across discovery, technical operations, translational sciences, and regulatory teams and will manage work with internal research teams, CROs and collaborators. The successful candidate will serve as a key member of project teams, providing expert input, and will own the distribution and publication of research data.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead technology transfer of core discovery capabilities into Invivyd Labs
  • Explore new technologies and build projects through identification, selection and oversight of CROs and external collaborators.
  • Present data, both orally and as written reports; publish data in peer-reviewed journals and deliver presentations internally or externally as needed.
  • Bring innovative expert scientific knowledge and credibility to discovery and preclinical research.
  • Manage a scientific team of 5-8 researchers.
  • Report non-clinical studies and support document authoring of regulatory submissions
  • Ensure appropriate/timely initiation, progression, and completion of non-clinical studies per project timelines.
  • Lead antibody discovery and down-selection of lead candidates
  • Establish protocols and coordinate execution of functional assays.

Requirements:

  • Ability to design, manage and interpret outsourced non-clinical studies with collaborators, CROs including timelines and budgets.
  • Hands-on expertise in technical and scientific aspects of antibody discovery including yeast display library construction, candidate selection, lead series optimization and preclinical development of candidate therapeutics.
  • Ability to design and execute antibody discovery workflows and interpret in-process readouts.
  • Scientific expertise in antibody discovery, and previous experience in progressing biologics through preclinical and clinical development are a plus.
  • Proven track record of high-impact contributions demonstrating scientific capability as evidenced by publications, reports and external presentations in the field.
  • Ph.D. with at least 5-8 years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience, preferably in antibody drug discovery and development.
  • Proactive team player and flexibility to work on multiple projects as the programs evolve over time.
  • Excellent verbal and written technical and non-technical communication skills.
