The Guardian Strategy & Innovation Team is looking for a discovery-focused product lead. In this role you will own the exploration of net new and re-imagined areas of opportunity in finance, wellness, and protection to inspire wellbeing. Your early-stage instincts and user-centric point of view will help craft quantitative and qualitative studies to uncover new insights leading to breakthrough products. You will work with a cross-functional group of colleagues to lead exploration, ideation, concepting, and product development from 0 to 1.


You will be expected to get your hands dirty – crafting research guides, synthesizing insights, building prototypes, working with designers and developers – all in the name of continuous innovation.

You are

You have


  • Flexibility to perform in lead or support roles, depending on the project.
  • A knack for crafting a good story via PowerPoint or other means.

  • User research knowledge and experience (1:1, focus group, etc.).
  • Functional understanding of modern technology concepts.
  • Books that may include “Inspired,” “Scrum,” “The Lean Startup,” “Freakonomics” or “Change by Design”.
  • Experience using creative tools such as Figma or the Adobe Suite.
  • Good planning, organizational, analytical, decision making, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of business design, finance, marketing, operations, or other business areas.
  • The ability to take direction but also push back with evidence-based findings.
  • Experience with Design Thinking/Human-centered design (IDEO methodology), UXR, or a social economics background.
  • Desire to innovate rapidly and live out agile principles.
  • Leadership influence even without direct line of authority.
  • Comfort with both qualitative and quantitative research techniques.
  • Passion for product discovery with product delivery capabilities.


You will


  • Find, gather, generate, and analyze internal as well as external data.
  • Build business cases & presentations to share at all levels of the organization as well as external clients.
  • Be responsible for product discovery into product delivery efforts.
  • Create new frameworks to convey outputs in compelling ways.
  • Coordinate with colleagues within and outside of the Innovation Team to drive optimal outcomes and deliver multiple new offerings into the market each year.
  • Interpret learnings, generate insights, develop opportunity areas, brainstorm solutions, create prototypes, and test concepts.
  • Manage moderate to high complexity projects and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Design experiments for new offerings to validate desirability, feasibility, and viability.
  • Perform consumer research including individual interviews, focus groups, surveys, concept tests, market analysis, and pilot tests to support business decisions.
  • Work with procurement, technology, marketing, and others to bring concepts to life.


Location


This is a flexible position requiring 2 days per week in the Boston, MA Guardian office.


Salary Range


$77,800.00 - $127,810.00


The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
