Job Summary
In collaboration with Health System executive leadership and Home Health Services Medical Director, the Director, Home Health Services is responsible for strategic planning, growth, compliance, and overall administration and oversight of home health care services for UT Southwestern Medical Center. This includes supervision of off-site and office-based staff, recruiting and retention, development, and implementation of program policies and procedures.
Job Duties
- Plans, implements, and directs the operations and financial management of the assigned home health care services program and portfolio.
- Develops and interprets policies, regulations, procedures, and coordination of services. Ensures program and institutional compliance with regulatory guidance, in collaboration with the UT Southwestern Office of Compliance.
- Directs and develops a staff of professional, administrative, and support personnel, including nurses, home health aides, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and social workers, assuring timely provision of quality care and appropriate quantity of service(s).
- Monitors metrics to assess and measure progress towards goals as appropriate. Interprets, explains, and discusses data analysis results.
- Analyzes and evaluates nursing and related services rendered to improve quality of care and to better utilize staff time and abilities. Oversight of quality improvement activities such as staff education, utilization review, risk management, and patient satisfaction of all patients served.
- Collaborates effectively with appropriate institutional stakeholders to support needs, development, and growth of Home Health Services program and team.
- Ensures that operations conform with local, state, and federal governmental regulations, applicable JCAHO standards, and company established quality assurance standards.
- Responsible for setting clinical standards for the delivery of patient care and ensuring adequate staff education and evaluations. Appropriately leverages available resources in doing so.
- Develops and implements effective clinical and business management systems, oversees the audits of patient charts, satisfaction surveys, and all service delivery by conducting routine program audits. Assures that the documentation of services provided is accurate and timely.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Work requires establishment and management of operating budget.
- Work requires telephone contact with patients, referring physicians, and pharmaceutical representatives outside of UT Southwestern, vendors, and third-party payees.
- Work requires knowledge of basic computer skills.
- Work requires determination of methods and approaches to problems.
- Work requires ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations.
- Work requires ability to maintain current customer service, clinical, and technical skills by attending training programs and seminars to continue level of competency and ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Work requires frequent contact with physicians, residents, fellows, allied health personnel, and other medical and/or non-medical office support personnel to coordinate and provide optimal level of patient care.
- Work requires flexibility in work hours and work locations.
- Work requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Work requires ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Work requires knowledge and ability to develop and recommend departmental and institutional policies and procedures for patient care and operational management.
- Work requires ability to stand for long periods of time.
Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree required, plus a minimum of seven (7) years progressively responsible related experience. Must have a current, unrestricted RN, PT, OT, or SLP license in the state of Texas or multistate compact license upon hire. Master’s degree in related field (i.e., MSN, MHA, MBA) strongly preferred. Must possess leadership skills and management experience, ability to motivate staff, apply critical thinking, and communicate effectively with staff, patients, and the community. Must be able to fulfill role of Administrator in alignment with State of Texas requirements.
Current and valid TX state driver’s license and auto insurance required.

Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in clinical environment. The incumbent may be exposed to body fluids and infectious diseases. Traveling may be required for this position.
