Under the supervision of the Vice President of Finance, the incumbent, whether personally or through subordinates, is responsible for the daily oversight of all financial activities and results including General Ledger, Gaming and Non-gaming Revenue Audit, Compliance and Accounts Payable.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Monitors and resolves fluctuations in departmental results and variances to budget and prior year
• Maintains Fixed Asset Accounting system
• Maintains a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility
• Ensure timely and accurate payment within company guidelines to vendors for all goods and services
• Ensures prompt and discreet notification to management and/or the Ethics Hotline of any observation of illegal acts or internal ethics violations
• Oversees the daily audit function to ensure the daily revenue cycle is audited and analyzed
• Directs all general accounting activities including preparing financial statements, detailed operating account analysis and balance sheet reconciliations
• Responsible for ensuring the month-end close is completed accurately and timely
• Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare and/or review and post entries to General Ledger for month-end closing
• Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned
• Maintains and updates General Ledger system and reports
• Responsible for communicating financial results effectively with all levels of management
• Primary liaison with external and internal audit teams to ensure a seamless audit
• Prepares and/or reviews all required Federal and State tax returns and filings within required deadlines
• Strong interpersonal skills required – must interact with all levels of our team
• Responsible for team member development and evaluating performance of all direct reports utilizing coaching and progressive discipline as needed
• Demonstrate a commitment to Responsible Gaming
• Ensures compliance with Minimum Internal Control Standards and National Indian Gaming Commission
• Evaluates existing internal controls and procedures being proactive to improve efficiency and/or effectiveness of the accounting or audit function
• Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training to accomplish established objectives
• Develops policies, procedures or internal controls to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations
• Exhibits conduct in accordance with all Gaming Commission Regulations and Seminole Tribe of Florida departmental policies and procedures

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent time management skills
• Strong work ethic and ability to foster productive working partnerships throughout the organization
• Must possess ability to write clearly and concisely, and effectively present information to all levels of management in written or verbal form
• Strong analytical, financial, problem solving and strategic thinking skills
• Must possess ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Must possess ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
• Strong interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of the organization
• Detail oriented and professional demeanor with strong organization skills
• Knowledge of Title 31 Banking Secrecy Act Regulations preferred
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required as well as seven (7) years of similar accounting and supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience

Closing

The Tribal Council gives preference in all of its employment practices to Native Americans. First preference in hiring, training, promoting and in all other aspects of employment is given to members of the Seminole Tribe who meet the job requirements. Second preference is given to members of other federally recognized Native American Tribes who meet the job requirements.
