Positions in this function is Reporting to the VP, Contract Management Strategy & Solution, the Director, Contract Program Mgmt & End User Support will be a primary collaborator with the contract management system users to champion build/enhancement needs to further support the regional and national strategies. This position will need to access and anticipate users’ needs and work proactively to develop applicable solutions as well as promote future roadmaps for development. Areas of focus will include the application core functions, enhancements, releases. This role will provide support to the CDOs in leveraging the application in their contracting activities from an end user perspective. This role also collaborates directly with Legal, Compliance & Regulatory partners responsible for maintaining the contractual templates and compliance with state filings and regulators.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Regularly meets with Optum Care and CDO leaders to proactively understand organizational imperatives, contracting challenges and opportunities. Influences leaders by recommending and obtaining buy-in for interventions, programs, tools, and solutions. Leads the execution of designing and/or delivering those solutions
  • Role will partner with HCE and CDO Network Leads on contracting strategies that will require customized market approaches. Creates a “white glove” strategy and executes on improving Optum care contracting experience
  • Creates strategies with third parties on how to manage the contractual relationships with their providers in the contract management solution
  • Oversight of the provider agreement, amendment and payment appendix filing preparation with both Government and Commercial regulatory filing agencies
  • Collaborate with legal and regulatory departments to create, modify, and maintain contracting documents to OptumCare business products
  • Oversight of the provider agreements, amendments and payment appendix drafting tool preparation for the build/modification process, outlining necessary conditioning/logic to ensure appropriate use of language within the market
  • Oversight of the provider agreement, amendments and payment appendix to confirm to state regulatory requirements and ability to work those requirements into operational documents to support the various products, lines of business and associated platforms
  • Leads the team to define success criteria; implement a means to measure success; develop remediation strategies to ensure criteria is met; and communicate results. Provides strategic direction, input and coaching on overall team effectiveness to ensure business needs are met
  • Ensures resources are aligned with organizational demand and priorities. Manages utilization and production levels while providing for employee engagement

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven solid business acumen and demonstrated understanding workforce planning and managing production
  • Experience in influencing executive leadership without authority to drive outcomes
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Word and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various teams and work effectively at all levels of management and a variety of stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in applicable field of Design, Technology, and/or related work experience equivalent to Bachelor’s degree can be substituted for a degree
  • Proven excellent interpersonal skills combined with strong consulting, negotiation, influence, and coaching skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex, fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • 7+ years of Network Management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in managing customer relationships and influencing executive leadership to arrive at appropriate strategies
  • Proven solid written and oral communication skills
  • Intermediate skills with MS Excel and Visio
  • Solid self-awareness and a willingness to grow professional and leadership skills
  • Solid analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving and fact-based decision-making abilities. Strategic thinking abilities and an enterprise-wide perspective
  • Familiarity with health care or operations

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City, or Washington residents is $101,200 to $184,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
