This role will be responsible for helping develop and run the IT Program Management Office, ensuring that the work of the PMO adds value, is relevant to the strategy of the organization, and meets the goals set for the PMO by executive management.


The role will oversee the delivery of the organization’s portfolio of projects/programs, executing on the defined processes to manage, prioritize, and execute on the demand. As a result, ensuring the IT team is working on the right things (aligned with the overarching Masonite strategy), continuously improving business partnerships, and set up for success to deliver a quality solutions on-time, on-budget, and to-spec. (50% of time)


This role will also be responsible for leading is the $150M Global ERP consolidation program (50% of time). Partnering with the operations and IT leads, he/she will be responsible for coordinating all workstreams, ensuring each implementation is executed on time, within scope, and on budget, escalating to project leadership when off track.


The role is expected to provide strong leadership in a matrix environment to promote best practices in managing interrelated projects and programs to ensure successful delivery. This role will also ensure project resources have the correct toolsets and processes in place and that all relevant staff are trained and equipped to deliver successfully.


  • Lead regular interactions with the executive sponsor to inform, alert, negotiate and maintain a continuing good relationship and shared vision for the program outcome.
  • Anticipate and aggressively remove obstacles that slow down or prevent programs from delivering on program objectives. Drive for clarity to keep teams moving forward.
  • Develop trusted relationships with key technology and functional leaders & stakeholders to drive focus on the strategic program objectives and optimize program delivery. This includes supporting and holding resources accountable for their responsibilities within each program.
  • Leads (where one is agreed and needed) the establishment of a project management community of practice to facilitate collaboration and best-practice sharing among project managers and key PMO stakeholders
  • Manage IT backlog (IT for business and IT for IT); communicating statuses both to internal IT as well as back to the business requestors on estimated start dates (note: this at times may require having difficult conversations about a project not being low priority)
  • Establish and ensure appropriate governance functions for the program in accordance with enterprise policies, practices and on behalf of the executive sponsor or senior responsible owner.
  • Lead and manage the PMO work effort for large-scale, cross-departmental initiatives that have a high degree of technology requirements and enablement for the business.
  • Communicate effectively with project sponsors and internal stakeholders so that senior executives, technology and business leaders as well as impacted staff feel as though they have adequate knowledge of milestones, progress and what is required of them.
  • Manage a team of PMs and Scrum Masters including 1:1s, team meetings, capacity planning, hiring, etc.
  • Utilize the agile mindset to create a collaborative environment that fosters autonomy, transparency, mastery, innovation, and learning; promotes continuous improvement.
  • Help define and apply a programmatic approach to identify, prioritize and execute the initiatives with clear line of sight to enterprise strategies and business outcomes.
  • Leverage best practices and techniques in identifying, quantifying and tracking the realization of expected benefits defined in business cases
  • Manage program budget and review program budget variance and scope change requests, and participate in the budget-resolution process
  • Partner with the executive sponsor to communicate program goals, objectives and potential outcomes.
  • Manage capital financial processes including forecasting each quarter
  • Ensure data is collected to appropriately inform decision making for mitigating risks and resolving issues.
  • Create, document, and execute effective processes for end-to-end program delivery, including identification and implementation of project management processes, methods, tools, guidelines and standards in order to establish a stable framework that supports all project teams and stakeholders to improve the probability of successful project delivery. Ensure to apply best practices to each of the defined processes.


Qualifications


  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, computer science, data science, information science or related field, or equivalent work experience. Academic qualification or professional training and experience areas are also desirable.
  • Excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills; able to work across business lines to achieve common goals.
  • 7+ more years of progressive leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.
  • Significant experience marrying a myriad of frameworks to select the right delivery approach (e.g. how are we looking at Agile, Waterfall, business requirement gathering in partnership with Product Management, working with the Organization Change Management team, etc.).
  • Proactive driver of complex, cross-functional technology programs.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills conducive to collaboration; able to work well in a cross-functional, matrix management environment.
  • Ability to make decisions independently and to assume higher-level leadership responsibilities in critical situations
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with multiple technical functions in the areas of infrastructure, technical operations, software engineering, and customer support.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and handle multiple initiatives in parallel as well as changing priorities.
  • Ability to promote innovative ideas and accept the risks that are required to lead change
  • Effective consultative and influencing approach
  • Strong financial skills
  • Thorough understanding of enterprise software development and infrastructure processes and lifecycle; ability to adjust and apply this knowledge in a dynamic environment using agile methodologies.
  • Strategy and management consulting experience desirable.
  • Demonstrated capability working a robust project plan, managing resource capacity and budget against that plan.
  • Experience as a Product Manager and/or Product management a plus.
  • 10+ years of strong technical program management and IT portfolio experience.
  • Ability to establish credibility and rapport with senior executives and technical and non-technical team members alike.
  • Adept at working with a globally distributed team and able to deliver with remote teams.
  • Ability to achieve broadly communicated objectives with a minimal amount of supervision
  • 7+ years of experience in program managing major ERP implementations
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a history of hands-on, detail orientation.
  • Experience as a Scrum Master (or equivalent experience with other agile methodologies).
