Job Description

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

Lodestar Energy is seeking a Development Manager in the Greater Boston Area to support our team in identifying and developing community and C&I (commercial & industrial) solar and energy storage projects that are profitable and financeable.The Development Manager will lead project management efforts across Lodestar’s expanding portfolio of development projects. The successful candidate will work with Lodestar’s team of subject matter experts to deliver a portfolio of ready-to-build U.S. solar assets. The role will coordinate screening project sites for suitability based on environmental, permitting, or interconnection constraints; manage the utility interconnection process; lead in the local permitting process; and coordinate project hand-off to Lodestar’s Finance and Construction teams.

The role will assist in executing new market entry strategies developed by the senior team, including financial modelling, securing site control, managing landowner relationships. This position will also assist in tracking solar policy and regulatory proceedings across the region.


Candidates will be located in the Boston Metro Area as travel to sites in the region will be necessary. Competitive candidates will have a bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience, and a passion for clean energy. Experience in renewables, energy or real estate development is strongly preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·Manage all aspects of development of solar and energy storage projects from early stage through construction and financing.

·Lead project permitting including permit strategy, tracking local permitting bylaws, working with local authorities, and to present at permit hearings and public meetings.

·Manage, and prepare reports for management on project development budgets and timelines.

·Manage project documentation and data rooms, track contract obligations in key project documents.

·Oversea utility interconnection applications, studies, and ongoing communication with electric companies

·Lead site diligence in collaboration with internal team members and consultants including surveys, engineering, site design, and environmental studies.

·Build and maintain financial models for new opportunities which reflect accurate revenue and costs; run sensitivity analysis on key assumptions.

·Track solar, energy storage and other policy and regulatory proceedings that may result in development opportunities for Lodestar.

·Assist on new development opportunities by preparing market entry strategies for new geographies, project profiles, and technologies.


ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Director of Development.


QUALIFICATIONS

·Demonstrated interest in renewable energy and desire to work in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.

·2-3 years of work experience with preference for renewable energy, energy, or real-estate development.

·Proactive, results oriented with ability to meet timelines.

·Strong organizational skills with ability to quickly prioritize and offer solutions to problems.

·Strong communication skills – both verbal and written.

·Modeling experience and skills preferred.

·Ability to work independently; driven and self-motivated.

·Undergraduate degree.Economics, accounting, or finance would all be positives.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Lodestar prides itself on a flexible work environment. The candidate needs to be in the Greater Boston Area and will work remotely with time spent in the Avon, CT, and New York City offices.Must have a valid driver’s license.


WORK SCHEDULE

We are looking for a minimum of 40 hours per week.


REMUNERATION

  • Market rate, contingent on experience.Base salary and significant bonus opportunity.
