Job Description
A pioneer in K–12 education since 2000, Amplify is leading the way in next-generation curriculum and assessment. Our core and supplemental programs in ELA, math, and science engage all students in rigorous learning and inspire them to think deeply, creatively, and for themselves. Our formative assessment products help teachers identify the targeted instruction students need to build a strong foundation in early reading and math. All of our programs provide educators with powerful tools that help them understand and respond to the needs of every student. Today, Amplify serves more than 10 million students in all 50 states. For more information, visit amplify.com.

Amplify is developing a new K-12 math curriculum that is (1) consistent with a student-centered, problem based pedagogical philosophy, (2) supports students and teachers in developing positive math identities, (3) demonstrates the utility, power, and beauty of math, (4) builds inclusive classroom communities that celebrate diversity, and (5) assists educators in orchestrating productive mathematical discussions.

The Curriculum Developer (CD) will work closely with the Curriculum Manager, Lead and fellow CDs to author the print components of the Amplify Math curriculum, while also reviewing digital content and collaborating with other teams (e.g., Product, Design, Editorial, Graphing, etc.).

  • This is a contract position for an approximated period of twelve months beginning in September 2023

  • Write student-facing and teacher-facing math content (lessons, practice questions, projects, etc.) for print math environments for one specific grade level or grade band in K-5.
  • Commitment to creating a representative, equitable curriculum that supports traditionally marginalized students.
  • Regularly check against errata trackers, making fixes to print components where appropriate.

Basic Qualifications Of The Curriculum Developer

  • Able to travel (approx 5%) to Amplify’s New York Office Headquarters for occasional workshops
  • Understanding of the progression of common core standards relative to grade level bands.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience working either (1) in educational settings, with evidence of excellence in instruction in math at relevant age levels or (2) at a PK-12 curriculum publishing company, with a focus on elementary mathematics.

Preferred Qualifications Of The Curriculum Developer

  • Proven experience working with diverse students
  • Graduate degree in early childhood education, elementary education, mathematics education, or similarly relevant subject area
  • Experience developing or implementing a problem-based curriculum
  • Experience supporting students with disabilities and English Language Learners
