Do you want to impact educators and students around the globe? At McGraw Hill, the Digital Academic Designer, Math will help plan and develop instructional materials for Grades 6-12 Math programs that are delivered in both print and digital formats.

McGraw-Hill Education, the leading provider of digital and print educational materials is looking for a creative, innovative, strategic Digital Academic Designer, Math (12 month term) for our 6-12 Reveal Math California programs.
You’ll be part of a team that creates robust digital tools, curriculum and learning solutions in a variety of formats that are used by millions of educators and students every day. The Academic Designer for 6-12 Math is a digital savvy content and curriculum expert, responsible and accountable for assembling high-quality content based on specific product requirements for the California Math programs.
Your contribution to the team includes:
  • Follow approved workflows at all stages and meet all intermediate and final schedules.
  • Support leadership with budgeting forecasts and resource allocation
  • QA the work of the vendor to ensure it adheres to guidelines
  • Collaborate with the lead and senior digital academic designers as well as other cross-functional team members to create prototypes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to identify, test, troubleshoot, define, and follow up on technical bugs and enhancements as they arise in authoring tools and the platform. When necessary, help define requirements for platform and authoring tool enhancements
  • Identify and suggest digital solutions for issues that arise during development.
  • Manage AD vendors and freelancers writing guidelines, answering questions, scheduling and leading weekly vendor status meetings
  • Work on digital product tasks such as metadata tagging, concept mapping, and digital editing.
  • Participate in concept meetings, review manuscript, storyboards, alpha builds, and beta builds for digital assets.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional teams to ensure that product requirements, project schedules, and product goals are met.
  • Fully understand the digital authoring tools and digital learning environment.
  • Work closely with the Learning Design Studio Accessibility team to ensure digital products meet all accessibility requirements.
  • Coordinate and contribute to the development of digital curriculum assets such as videos, eBooks, interactives, simulations, and virtual labs.
  • Assist during digital launches with vendors including helping to create templates, trackers, and digital content development guidelines.
What you’ll need to be successful:
  • Background in math, math instruction, or math education preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technology, Education, Instructional Design, or related field required. Master’s or advanced degree a plus.
  • Experience managing multiple projects within tight deliverables and budgets.
  • 1-2 years experience working in digital content development that includes teaching and learning materials.
  • Strong ability to communicate and lead cross-functional meetings.
A successful candidate may have:
  • Experience in instructional design or educational technology for 6-12 Math curriculum.
  • Experience with authoring tools, learning management systems, and content management systems.
  • Ability to create and visualize animated and interactive content.
  • Previous high school or undergraduate teaching experience.
  • Math knowledge is a plus.
The pay range for this position is between $48,000-$53,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. Additionally, a full range of medical and/or other benefits may be provided, depending on the position offered.
