Job Overview:
As a conceptual leader with strong command of visual identity principles & vision, you’ll drive the development of big ideas and powerful communications that bring our brand narratives to life and create real desire for our products and services. Adept at branding and creative strategy, you’ll translate business objectives into effective integrated marketing campaigns. As champion of our brand identity, you’ll inspire and mentor a team of designers & art directors to develop persuasive communications that create relevancy and consideration. As a hands-on leader, you’ll plan & execute great work that positions our brand as a brand with clear purpose.
You have expert typographic knowledge and a strong editorial design voice & vision that drives innovation. You’re tapped into creative industry trends and well informed of evolving channel best practices including accessibility requirements. And you are highly skilled at applying this knowledge to the development of storytelling and new ideas that engage customers effectively in digital, traditional and emerging media.
You’ll work closely with other creative leaders as well as partners within Marketing, Digital, eCommerce, Philanthropy, Visual, Merchandising and agency partners to ensure a superior customer experience.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborates with copywriters and other creative leaders to develop campaign and project concepts that meet creative brief objectives. Evaluates creative briefs to ensure clarity and alignment on direction before work begins.
- Researches with enthusiasm to bring innovation into all solutions, from new fashion and promotional ideas to new digital content and experiences.
- Oversees monthly wireframing & editorial planning
- Ensures all creative work meets brand identity guidelines, reflects our customer’s diversity, and is grounded in an ongoing awareness of our competition. Combines a deep understanding of design systems, grids, color, typography and photography to deliver clear and powerful messages.
- Builds strong relationships with creative peers and cross-functional partners in order to develop and implement strategies, deliver fresh creative solutions, drive sales and create synergy & integration across marketing platforms.
- Directs casting, styling, hair & makeup direction prior to shoots. Directs crew of photographers, stylists and hair & makeup on location and in studio as required.
- Creates presentations that effectively articulate and inspire support for ideas
- Brings energy & enthusiasm to the team though mentoring, celebrations, volunteering and fundraising events.
- Directs, inspires & motivates others through an innovative approach to design, ideation & ways of working. Leads project teams to develop and execute editorial, design and photo concepts for events and campaigns.
- Leads conversations and drives decision making to position our brand as a credible style authority.
- Develops talent & new hires, providing clear & consistent direction and constructive feedback to keep team aligned to the overall creative vision.
- Plans, prioritizes and produces a high volume of work, taking ownership from start to finish. Meets deadlines and proactively communicates status of projects to partners and leaders.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- 8+ years of experience in advertising design or related design discipline
- Proven track record of developing individuals and teams, and of retaining talent
- We encourage candidates with either a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field to apply.
- 5+ years of management experience inclusive of photo art direction required
- Portfolio demonstrating design and advertising communications proficiency
- Retail experience preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs – Outlook, Teams, Powerpoint, Word
- Expert in Adobe Creative Suite – XD, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
