Coordinator - Recreation Programs (Sports)

The City of Solon Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for a full time Coordinator – Recreation Programs (Sports). Applicants must be organized, a leader, a team player and a creative thinker. This position will report directly to the Director of Parks and Recreation or designee and requires the ability to work flexible hours including days, nights and multiple weekends per year.

Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, directing and supervising the Recreation Department’s Sports Programs, Sports Clinics and Sports Camps. Additional responsibilities will be staff scheduling, acquiring coaches, assign practice times, order/distribute uniforms, communicate with participants/guardians, schedule games/officials and any other duties deemed necessary by the Director of Parks and Recreation or designee. Must also be able to develop research and oversee new innovative programming that will fit the needs of the Solon Community. Programming is for all age groups including preschool and youth.

Qualified applicants must have a four-year college degree from an accredited college in recreation, sports management or a related field. Experience may be substituted for educational requirement. Previous experience in a municipal Recreation Department or related field is preferred. Skills in first aid, CPR and Automatic Electronic Defibrillator (AED), and knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations, and techniques used in the various recreation programs are a plus.

This position offers a starting rate of $27.0861/hour. City benefits include medical, prescription, dental, and vision. In addition, benefits include membership in the Ohio Public Employer’s Retirement System, life insurance, vacation, sick leave accruals and select paid holidays.
