Job Description

Job Summary

The School and Parenting Programs Coordinator is a key member of the Making Caring Common (MCC) team. In partnership with MCC’s Program Director for School and Parenting Programs, this individual will coordinate and support logistics, communications, and recruitment for various K-12 and parenting projects. The person in this role will support MCC’s work and mission by developing relationships with project partners and schools, by recruiting schools for a variety of projects, and cultivating and maintaining relationships with teachers, school leaders, and other stakeholders that champion and advance our mission. The Program Coordinator will support projects across the Schools and Parenting Programs team including the expansion of MCC’s Relationship Mapping strategy to schools across the nation, the Combating Bullying and Bias project, a collaborative project with Facing History and Ourselves, and also support and contribute to curriculum and resource development. This person reports to the Schools and Parenting Program Director.

Position Description

Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Communication and Project Recruitment
  • Edit and format MCC documents including strategies, lessons, and project proposals.
  • Support outreach and recruitment of diverse schools, educators, parents/caregivers for various MCC projects and programs.
  • Communicate with school leaders, educators, and parents/caregivers via phone calls, surveys, emails, newsletters and other correspondence.

Event Planning and Coordination
  • Coordinate and support communications, marketing, and recruitment for our inaugural speaker series focused on reducing bias, bullying, and isolation in schools.
  • Coordinate and support the expansion of our Relationship Mapping strategies by collaborating with various partners
  • Coordinate virtual convenings with experts in the field of education, parenting, and mental health.
  • Support the Combating Bullying and Bias project by coordinating monthly virtual meetings for the Collaborative Ideas Lab.

Curriculum and Resource Development
  • Adapt existing curriculum and resources for new formats and audiences
  • Working with the director, help build new curriculum, trainings, and resources focused on empathy, anti-bias and anti-racism, equity and inclusion, and mental health for educators and parents/caregivers. Content will

Administrative Support
  • Provide administrative support to members of MCC staff to support projects across the Schools and Parenting program, including but not limited to supporting and reviewing Concur financial reports and data entry and tracking in Salesforce.
  • Support Program Director of School and Parenting Programs with the planning, execution, and reporting of various projects and grants.

Other Responsibilities
  • Support data collection and data tracking for schools, educators, and partners engaged in MCC projects.
  • Liaise with school-based coordinators for various projects, including the expansion of Relationship Mapping Strategies.

This is a one-year term position with possibility of renewal.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of relevant professional work experience; postsecondary coursework and part time work can count towards this requirement.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience organizing, coordinating and executing logistics for meetings, events, and projects with high attention to detail.
  • Strong public speaking, verbal, and written communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies.
  • Previous experience working in education or other public sector fields.
  • Ability to collaborate, coordinate and communicate in a virtual work environment.
  • Strong organizational, technical, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Attention to detail with a proven ability to take initiative and accurately manage multiple projects independently and simultaneously.
  • Forward thinker, highly collaborative, and enjoys creating systems and clarity in complex, novel situations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, intermediate Excel skills.
  • Focus on, and knowledge of, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion practices in education
  • Is knowledgeable of (or can quickly come up to speed on), passionate about, and committed to the MCC mission.
  • Previous experience writing/supporting curriculum and educational content and coordinating projects at an organizational level.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft clear, professional correspondence, build relationships with stakeholders, and coordinate projects and events.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
