Job Description

Summary: Develops and coordinates the implementation of the recreation and leisure time programs for individuals served. Ensures recreation activities align with each individual’s goals and objectives as defined in their individual program plan (IPP).


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Develops and implements CRC’s recreation program which includes but is not limited to community outings; social activities and games including music, dance, arts and crafts, cultural arts, nature study; leisure time activities; pet therapy; Special Olympics; etc. Adapts these programs to meet the needs of each individual served.


Encourages and solicits suggestions and feedback from the individuals served and staff regarding activities and events.


Completes applications, parent consents, and other paperwork required for membership in organizations and clubs. May serve as advisor to clubs and groups in which individuals served participate.


Provides training to other program staff about recreation activities, equipment, and materials so they can support the participation of each individual.


Tracks recreational expenditures and discusses with supervisor to ensure expenditures remain in line with the budget.


Develops monthly recreation calendar and weekly activity schedule in conjunction with supervisor and communicates monthly calendar and weekly schedule to individuals served, families and program staff.


Coordinates execution of monthly calendar, weekly activity schedule, and staff schedules accordingly.


Facilitates use of volunteers, interns, students, etc. in activities and events where possible. Ensures volunteers, interns, students are aware of and follow all program and organization policies and procedures.


Schedules recreation outings and other special events.


Ensures resources and staff needed for execution of events and planned activities are available and discusses any need for support with supervisor.


Coordinates process for obtaining parental/guardian consent, as needed, for outings or special events.


Coordinates and provides transportation for recreation outings and other special events.


Demonstrates flexibility in work schedule to be present for weekend and/or evening activities and/or events.


Works with supervisor to develop recreation plan for each individual that aligns recreation activities with their goals and objectives.


Compiles monthly data on the progress of each individual related to recreation goals and objectives and submits a report to the designated qualified intellectual disability professional (QIDP) by the 10th of each month.

While performing the duties of this job, employee will comply with all federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to Easterseals Arkansas.


Employee has access to all client protected health information in the working file of his/her discipline within his/her program. Employee will not attempt to access any other protected health information unless otherwise approved by Supervisor or Privacy Officer.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Bachelor’s degree and experience with planning, organizing, motivating, and evaluating recreation, special events, or similar activities and/or events preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid Arkansas Driver's License

Commercial Driver's License strongly preferred
