Job Description
To assist in the operations of Recreational Services, Sport Programs. Works collaboratively with other areas of the Department, the Division of Student Life, the University, and external constituents to promote and facilitate Sport Programs offerings. The Sport Programs Coordinator provides leadership, vision, and supervision for the daily operations and management of a comprehensive Intramural Sports Program that offers an average of 50+ activities serving over 10,000 student participants annually.
The Sport Programs Coordinator is responsible for personnel management, training, scheduling, and nightly on-site evaluation for an average of 50 student staff including Intramural Officials and Sports Program Supervisors who work a combined 300+ hours per week. This position develops and delivers multiple education clinics specific to sport activities throughout the year while also leading participant education and restorative practice. The Sport Program Coordinator assists in the planning, development, and daily operations of the Hustling Hawkeyes Youth Sports Camp.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Current CPR, AED, First-Aid Instructor Certification (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).
  • Working experience with standard office computer applications, including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and working experience developing and delivering presentations to groups.
  • Commitment to and alignment with the values of the Division of Student Life, including a demonstrated commitment to excellence through anti-oppression, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation or related field or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Working experience (typically 1 or more years) in recreational sport programming including officiating; and the hiring, training, and development of officials.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Physical Education, Recreation Administration, Sports Management, or related field.
  • Officiating experience (typically 1 or more years) outside of a collegiate Intramural Sports program (extramural, high school, college level officiating).
  • Experience using WhentoWork scheduling software and IMLeagues Intramural Sports league management software.
  • Work experience (typically 1 year or more years) of professional or graduate assistant experience within a collegiate recreation intramural sports program including the recruitment, hiring, training, and development of officials.
  • Experience in administration of youth camps.
  • Basic knowledge of assessment methods and activities; ability to assess research and review students' learning outcomes to ensure achievement of objectives and strategies.
  • Basic knowledge of and experience administering Esport programs.
  • Flag Football and Basketball officiating experience (typically 1 or more years) in a college or university intramural sports program.
