Construction Manager I & Ii

Duties:

• Education background in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction
• Prepare and maintain project budgets and schedules.
• Management, or related field.
• Ability to interpret contract plans and specifications, including other agency permits.
• Review the work of other consultants and ensure compliance with instructions.
• Ability to effectively facilitate project team and client meetings.
• Schedule materials testing and construction staking with Public Works staff.
• Review and make recommendations on contractor submittals.
• Minutes.
• Prepare written correspondence to others, including contractors.
• Knowledge of the Greenbook or Caltrans specifications.
• Work closely with Public Works project managers, designers, and inspectors to deliver projects.
• Ability to effectively negotiate and prepare change orders.
• Ability to adapt and respond effectively to project issues and challenges.
• Prepare monthly pay estimates.
• Licensed professional or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
• Minimum 5 years (CM1) or 10 years (CM2) of construction management experience managing horizontal infrastructure projects.
• Perform construction inspection, oversight, enforcement of compliance with the contract documents, and on-site management of the construction project.
• Respond to inquiries from the public, elected officials, other agencies, and others within Public Works.
• Prepare project meeting agendas, run project meetings, and prepare meeting
• Evaluate and make recommendations on changes in scope of work.
• Negotiate change orders.
• Prepare and process change orders, daily reports, and working day statements; collect work records; maintain accurate records of work performed for payment purposes; conduct employee interviews; prepare as-built plans; and perform other associated administrative tasks.
• Ability to effectively monitor and coordinate project activities with the various project stakeholders.
• Coordinate project close-out activities.
• Ability to independently complete assignments.
• Candidates are required to possess the following:
• Ability to develop and maintain logs.
• Coordinate construction activities with contractors, other agencies, and others within Public Works.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Perform plan and specifications constructability reviews.
