Responsibilities
The Concierge provides Mayo Clinic domestic and international patients with assistance in accessing non medical resources within the medical center and the Jacksonville community. Responsible for effectively organizing, assembling and arranging resources to address patient inquiries. Interacts with patients and/or referring physicians to schedule appropriate appointments or provide other information/services as needed. Independently recognizes, interprets, and evaluates medical conditions and their level of urgency. Maintains regular contact with medical specialty areas (physicians, secretaries, and administrators) as needed as part of the patient care team to ensure quality-scheduling services.
Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Excellent customer service skills and training required. Successful completion of a medical terminology course or at least 2 years of medical terminology use required. Candidates must be able to type 40 wpm and have worked with computers, as well as technical office equipment and general medical center patient information systems. Requires the ability to demonstrate proper telephone etiquette. Must be able to work independently, be goal directed and have strong organizational skills. Successfully handles multiple demands simultaneously. Knowledge of computers, technical office equipment and general medical center patient information systems. Demonstrates a friendly, positive attitude. Excels in both written and verbal communication. Excellent application of grammar, punctuation, and English usage. Must be able to communicate with individuals and small groups with credibility and confidence. Turns problems into opportunities by developing innovative and creative solutions. Displays energy and drive in performing daily responsibilities. Conveys an impression which reflects favorably upon the public relations of the institution.

Preferences:

Associate's degree preferred or two years of medical appointment scheduling experience in a healthcare facility experience in the hiring work unit preferred. Second language skills and hospitality experience preferred.

Additional Qualifications :

KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of Mayo's scheduling system preferred. Knowledge of Cerner scheduling programs desirable. ADDL CONSIDERATIONS: Successful agents demonstrate ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment, team player, and demonstrated problem solving skills. Must be willing to modify individual work schedules/responsibilities in response to department/clinical needs.

This is a part-time position with a 4-hour shift duration. Hours can range between 7:00am – 7:00pm but are typically 1:00pm – 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Hours for this position are subject to change due to the business need so flexibility is a must.

Typically, this would be a Monday and Friday position. Weekends would only be included if there was a business need.
