Job Title: Claims Professional

Location: Dallas, TX (Remote)

Duration: 3+ Months (Extendable)

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Capable of performing in a detail oriented and repetitive environment
  • Six (6) years' experience with a bank that required explaining deposit insurance regulations to depositors.
  • Skill in the preparation of routine reports and forms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft's Office Suite Products and ability to quickly learn standardized software/database system used by the
  • Knowledge of deposit insurance regulations and claims policies
  • Four-year business, accounting or equivalent degree from an accredited university , which includes or is supplemented by at least 12 hours in accounting or auditing
  • A working knowledge of data processing systems
  • Ability to accurately follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to calmly, accurately and effectively communicate with individuals at all levels in a highly charged environment,


Expected Deliverable

  • In performing activities/tasks and services related to either/both facets of the claims function, Contractor personnel may have occasion to interface with depositors/claimants either in person or verbally/electronically. Contractor personnel may be asked to receive inquiries directly and direct the individual to the appropriate employee or disseminate written materials with information regarding answers to frequently asked questions.
  • The Claims function and processes cover a broad spectrum of responsibilities and activities. One of the primary responsibilities of this Functional Area is the determination of deposit insurance coverage on all deposit accounts of a failed institution. The client uses an Extract Transform and Load process to categorize deposits, identify owners and aggregate an owner's accounts, and apply the Standard Maximum Deposit Insurance Amount (SMOlA). The client commences the initial analysis process pre-closing, and it continues, non-stop, throughout closing weekend until all in itial determinations are made. Depositor appeals and adjusting data maintained in CAS based on receipt of additional information occupies the first few weeks of the post-closing phase. Contractor personnel might be asked to perform activities/tasks and services related to working in association with CAS system by reviewing and editing data within CAS, or data from other sources, and applying deposit insurance regulations to data, and processing exceptions, either/both pre-closing and during closing weekend, and researching analyzing data and making recommendations for adjustments post-closing. Contractor personnel may be required to attend an orientation on the use of CAS.
  • The Claims function also includes the processes of determining whether/how much "claimants" other than depositors are owed monies as a result of those claimants having had some type of product, service or monetary investment with the failed institution. A "claim" is an assertion of indebtedness of a failed institution to a depositor or to a party which has a non-deposit liability such as a general creditor, subordinated debt holder, or shareholder. The Claims Department is responsible for receiving, reviewing, researching, and analyzing such "assertions" based on appropriate documentation and guided by applicable law, regulation, and internal policies and procedures. Contractor personnel might be asked to research and analyze data and develop recommendations regarding the disposition of individual claims by the client
