Company Description

The Joshua Tree Foundation is a 501(c)3 General Purpose private society established to preserve 6,000+ acres of privately-held land in the Mojave Desert, over 95% of which have dense populations of Yucca Palms (more commonly known as Joshua Trees). Joshua Trees are only known to grow in Joshua Tree National Park in California, the Mojave Desert, and parts of northern New Mexico. In addition, it is the first plant species in California to be listed as threatened due to climate change, as of the bill's passing on June 28, 2023.

Without taking further steps to reduce the impact of climate change, UC Riverside scientists estimate that Joshua Tree populations could be reduced to just 2% globally by the end of the century. Which is why JTF is making sustainability self-sustaining by transforming a non-revenue generating asset into one which not only has intrinsic, fungible value, but also generates recurring revenue in the form of carbon credits. In addition to virtualizing physical assets and establishing assessment models for carbon credits, JTF also stewards "The Cador Negative Emissions Fund", a balloon fund aimed at pushing the boundaries of ESG and corporate responsibility within the real estate sector, especially as it relates to a Zero Carbon future and the commercially viable scaling of nascent negative emissions technologies.

We do this by:

• Building mission-critical infrastructure essential to realizing soft targets or hard commitments to Carbon Neutrality or Net Zero in both the private and public sectors, with a focus on regulation and transparency;

• Facilitating the execution of transformational deals moving the needle on negative emissions (carbon removal) capabilities, technologies, and new feasibility studies for clean energy.

Role Description

At a high-level, it is our hope to build a diverse and balanced team with strong chemistry and similarly held values. We are specifically looking to make additions to our HarmonicXchange™ (DLT Articulated VCM) and Carbon-X.Art™ (Biochemical NFT) project teams. However, we are always open to creating roles for the right people, so shoot your shot.

Co-Founder & Chief Science Officer (CSO)

• Demonstrated academic interest in or prior operational experience with carbon sequestration or negative emissions technologies, even if naiscent and never scaled
• Co-Founder, xx% equity stake + rev share; part-time & 100% remote possible

• Pursuing or holds doctorate in STEM field like Biochemical Engineering or Environmental Sciences
• Familiarity and operational expertise with updated frameworks and verification vis-a-vis UNFCCC CDM
